i started botanicula with my daughter today (first day of her summer holiday), and we are both really loving it.
got that and freespace 2 on gog today. looking forward to freespace as i loved the x series of games a few years back (think freespace is more combat oriented whereas x is mainly trading though).
was playing portal, but got stuck on level 13 (unlucky for some), and haven't gone back to it yet. _________________ Hermetech Mastering | Discogs | SoundCloud | Bandcamp | Facebook | Pathmusick |

I'm pretty jaded on Dishonoured because the lead designer is the same one responsible for the horrendously disappointing Deus Ex: Invisible War. He followed up a wonderful open action/RPG classic with a tiny world, limited RPG options, horrendously crippled UI and a poorly written incorporation of all three endings from the original.
In short - he followed up greatness with a mediocre (at best) turd. I don't piss on him as much as I do Peter Molyneux - but ... yeah.
I'm currently on Chapter 5 of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Amazing and way overlooked game. Really reminds me of another gem - Beyond Good and Evil. Character-driven adventure with some great environment designs. _________________ Who broke all the toys in the cookie jar?

Project IGI, rather old but still fun to play.
And I recently started to play World of Tanks, a multiplayer tank battle game. _________________ Youtube Channel |

| I started playing LA Noire this weekend. It's compelling as a kind of episodic entertainment, but it might actually be the worst game I've ever played. In that they completely forgot to make it into a game, and seem to have tacked on a bunch of busy work mini-games to hide its general non-game-ness. |

That's pretty much what every person I know has told me about it. One person even said 'rent it just to see the facial expressions for like an hour, and then be like - done.'
Anyhow, in my world I'm [this] close to beating Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Next up - Oblivion 5th Anniv. for the 360, probably. I'm on the look-out for a good deal on Deus Ex: Human Revolution for the 360 (my PC is badass, but I'm trying to keep the machine geared towards 'doing music' more than 'fucking off').
Oh - and when Penny Arcade 3 comes out for XBLA, I'm on it. _________________ Who broke all the toys in the cookie jar?

Yeah, I got it dirt cheap on Steam, which is roughly the same level of commitment as renting.
The facial expressions are interesting in that uncanny valley sort of way, much more impressive is the voice acting, there are times you forget you're watching computer-drawn cut scenes and not the actors themselves. |

PC gamers - any of you use an xbox 360 controller for playing? i've started "driver: san francisco" using the keyboard, but the lack of analogue control on accelerating/braking/steering is making it tough (and i don't want to have to hook up my racing wheel just to play this). i was looking on ebay for a cheap 360 controller, but wasn't sure if i should go for an official one or one of the cheap knock-offs. anyone bought the cheap ones and had any problems? _________________ _soundcloud |

In my opinion, xbox360 has the best controller in both ergonomics, feel and build quality. Make sure to get a wired controller. The wireless drivers for windows 7 are shit. |

Am enjoying the challenge and can tell it's a a game ill be playing for quite a few months, if not years before i can finish it.
It's been the catalyst needed to finally get my computer upgraded from the ancient beast i still had running (2005? ) |

Well - I just beat Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.
Score: B. The characters, environment designs and voice acting was wonderful. The controls - however, eh. The vehicle sections (see: 'the Cloud') were more frustrating than exhilirating, the combat seemed unpolished and slow (notably so when compared to games like Batman: Arkham Asylum) and the jumping-about-segments were sometimes counter-intuitive or just sluggish (for instance - when jumping between hand-poles and timing such jumps based on flaming columns shooting out from the walls - I don't need my character to waste time swinging around on the bar - I need him to goddamn jump when I say 'jump' - like in, oh - Prince of Persia).
So - alright game, could have used some polish. _________________ Who broke all the toys in the cookie jar?
