this is an excerpt from keith fullerton whitman's album "generator", which has been on constantly since i got it a few months ago. it's a really fantastic modular album. i remember hearing his hrvatski records years ago, then seeing that he's the man behind mimaroglu (awesome record store), and now that he's been making some subtle, wonderful, exciting modular music.
just thought i'd share. |

Generator is a pretty cool album.
I've really enjoyed what I've heard of the oud and synthesizer record he did, too bad it isn't available for purchase as a download anywhere, I'd love to get it.
He has an excerpt up on his soundcloud of it:
http://soundcloud.com/kfw/variations-for-oud-synthesizer-1-excerpt
(embedding Soundcloud link was doing weird things, so here's just the link) |

Keith is a Wiggler as well. Not very active, but he's around. Bought a couple of A110's from me last year off of the BST. Generator is terrific. _________________ Dance Robot Dance.

This might be the video you're speaking of - http://vimeo.com/18244639
I can't get enough of KFW. He's an inspiration. I only wish I could see his piece for Francois Bayle's Acousmonium in Austria later this year.
Would love to see him back to Australia in the near future. |

Just wanted to resurrect this thread to share my excitement.
KFW has a new record of the Generators material coming out in February on Editions Mego.
Many thanks, Keith. Really looking forward to hearing this one.

Shit, I'll grabbing that next LP quicksmart!
The split he did with Ben Vida out on Required Wreckers is also ace.
If you can find it (i think he still sells a few at Mimaroglu), pick up "Track4 (twowaysuperimposed)". Beautiful 20 min piece designed to be played both directions. _________________ www.oscillether.com

hey guys ; just (re) found this thread ... just a heads-up that i've (finally) updated my personal site ::
http://www.keithfullertonwhitman.com
... tons of excerpts from the upcoming record(s ; the emego one & the split w/ eli keszler on nna tapes) & the GRM piece (hacked it to "work" in stereo - likely this will be out in some form before the end of the year) & the music from the deepak chopra game (ditto) ...
... have plans to kind of come out of my shell a little bit more this year ; i'll be in europe in february, then april, then july - west coast over the summer, chicago in march - so there's that ... traveling light with just a monorocket mx6, but i've managed to come up with some great, largely improvised music with a stripped-down 12u 90hp that screams over a good "rock club" pa ...
anyways, check out the site & let me know what you think. i'm really not a dick ; i spend way too much time on here (even though i don't post much) ... |

I didn’t make the connection until recently, but a few months back I made a largish order from Mimaroglu, and I’ve got another heading to me thru the mail right now. Both transaction have gone well, and the online catalog is well worth a look. |

New "Generators" LP now in stock at Mimaroglu:
http://www.mimaroglumusicsales.com/labels/demand.html
Been looking forward to this one for a while! According to Keith:
| Quote: | | this lp covers the final two performances of the piece over two consecutive evenings ; the opening solo set from the final night of the "high zero" festival in baltimore at the theater project, september 26th, 2010, then the performance during the "for eliane" night of the "propensity of sound" festival dedicated to eliane radigue's work at issue project room, brooklyn, september 27th, 2010. these recordings show the piece in two different iterations, taking two different trajectories entirely. they're considered the definitive versions of the piece. |

Is there any place online (US) to buy the recent stuff in a lossless format, specifically the new generators, but really any of the more recent kfw? I see much of it on amazon... but I would prefer lossless downloads over cd or lp
edit: that vid is fantastic, i'm really enjoying the recent stuff |

I'm really digging this album. Not familiar enough with the Generators series to say if this is "definitive" (but if Keith says it is I'll take his word for it) but it's certainly amazing. Love how, despite what must be an impossibly complex system, he's still able to make music out of it that is emotionally engaging and goes far beyond being merely "interesting". The two sides are worlds apart sonically...for me Side 1 is more like the opening act and Side 2 is the blowaway, but they're both great in their own way. It's only February, but I bet this will make a lot of "Best of 2012" lists. |

hey guys ; thanks (as always) for the support !!! here's a short clip of a quad performance i gave in nantes back in february for the cable#5 festival ... there's an lp coming out on editions mego in late may / early june of this set (in its entirety) & one from a week later in amsterdam ; very happy with this music, definitely getting closer & closer to the exact sound i had in mind when i started working with modulars a decade ago ...

I think to me, more important than his music (which I dearly love), has been his incredible digging and championing of a sort of counter-canon (or maybe just shadow world) of electronic music, through creel pone and his other activities.
This type of effort also strikes me as a paramount part of being an artist.
I know I've learned a great deal about records and sound makers that I would have never found without him. _________________ http://www.bluxomepoint.com
