I have tried to find demos of the 124 filter, but except for the ones on the doepfer site, all i can find is demos that have lots of other stuff going on aswell.

Can someone point me to a "clean" demo of this filter?
Im not that impressed by the demos on the doepfer site, but there has to be something more to this filter with all the praise it gets.

I did a basic demo on my YouTube a while ago.
I don't like the Doepfer A-120. Never use and it will sell it when I get round to it. I've got two Doepfer Wasps but never really felt the love for them either.

The A-127 Triple filter is the one I use the most. Lots of fun to be had.
Personally I love the Wasp filter. The triple 127 only gets used for doing formant effects in my system. Of course, the Plan B filters are still my favorite...

I wish there were more demos of the A107, I'm fascinated by the specs on that thing.

A105 is a rock solid fllter. Very clean Juno sound. I prefer it to the Z2040.

if your rig is full of filters - there must be at least some space for some doepfer filters - i like em all... the browns, the purples, the reds... - if i could choose just one filter, it wouldn't be a doepfer...just my 2 cents...

So why would I buy a Z2040 when I could spend the same $ getting 2x A105 and have stereo squirts?

the two included VCAs are its main selling point, plus the very nice vc-overdrive you can get from putting the VCA pre-filter (via a jumper)

check the manual for details

i think it pips it slightly on the sonics too, but it's a very close run thing (spent ages to and fro-ing between these at schneiders and ended up with the z2040 for the features/ sound.....but then i already have a trade lined up for one, so that came into it too...)

the a105's resonance fades in more gradually though, whereas the z2040's jumps in suddenly on the last bit of the turn

Supposedly its by design or an inherent part of the SSM2040 topology but I've never heard anyone say that about the Prophet 5 or MOTM 440. I suspect the wrong taper pot may have been used for the resonance control on the Z2040.. it doesn't feel right to me. Try plugging an external DC voltage into the Res CV instead of using the res control and you get a much better response.

I resurfaced another old Doepfer thread so not to hijack this thread. Cheers

I have both + MMF1.

I turn the VCA off on Z2040 to make it sound more like the A105 - then it sounds much better! Didn't like it at all with the VCA on pre filter - just not the sound i'm after - gives a nice vintage overdrive and FM's lovely for crazy freakout VCA pre filter, but i still prefer the filter part of the A105 - its a little bit cleaner and clinical - the Z2040 is a tad warmer and rounder. Its a close run thing. They're both keepers.

If you don't want all the fancy stuff go with A105. If you want a few extras thrown in go for Z2040.

I fell in love with the sound of the 107, now want a 106-6 to save space, I dont use the morphing/vca enough... Wasp is also one of my favorites, nothing vanilla about that one. A-106-1 I found to be quite unintuitive, probably bad choice for a first filter, but I liked the sound....

I have a A-106-6. Very nice, versatile, lots of choice. I recommand to have one

I have the boogie wiard borg, very nice too! I think it is a vactrol. has a specific color.

I am about to buy four A-106-5. It's motherfucking bacon yo but $$$$$ !!

Out of all the filters, balancing finances/quality/features, I concur that four A-106-5 filters would be SlayerBadger!

@Don. Used for formant filtering and, the obvious one, 4 voice poly filtering.

Well, four VCF for 4 voice poly filtering, indeed, and formant filtering too!

I was considering to buy the Cynthia Four Filter, but there is only one CV input per filter.

I have eleven VCO but only three VCF. I want to try things. I am very glad to hear that the A-106-5 is SlayerBadger! !!

That makes me more It's motherfucking bacon yo !
