Paul, I thought you had panels for the Cloud Generator already? Someone on the Yahoo list had asked for the sawtooth waveform instead of sine or square and you said you already had panels made.

I have these panels made but that's no reason to shoehorn the design into them. I made these 6 years ago :)

Will this include the Cloud Generator, Morphing Terrarium, and other more recent modules? Or will it just be the ones previously available as kits from you?

Ummm...it's not modules. It's parts for modules.

Well, yeah; I meant the PCBs + parts kits for the MT, CG, etc.

The E340/350 kits are assembled pcb's that you finish with the pots and jacks. I believe Paul is saying those are available directly from him.

Correct. If you want the stuffed SMT board set for the E340 or E350, they are $250US/$270 foreign (includes postage). Just PayPal me @ synth1@airmail.net and specify which one you want

Once things settle down a bit I will put them into the shopping cart app.

BTW: I have these in stock now and can ship in < 1 week.

If you want the 6 BI vertical pots that is additional $20. This will force you to the Euro pot spacing/knobs. But any 100K linear pot will work and you can 'fly wire' into the pot pads.

do I need a special PROM for sawtooth or does it have a solder pad for each waveform? space is not an issue for me. I'll just build it on a 3U blank with ALL the jacks

Ok, thanks! I didn't realize they came as pre-stuffed boards.

More to add to my ever-growing list...

Am I alone in finding the whole "what's available now, what won't be available for some indeterminate length of time, what's a bag of parts, what's a pre-stuffed board, what to order from whom, let alone whether online inventories are accurate" thing more than a little confusing?

The Eurorack stuff is SMD and only available as finished module or pre-stuffed board.
The "legacy" MOTM stuff is available as finished module from Paul or in PCB/Kit form from Bridechamber.
If this is confusing you should not start with DIY. ;)

Except for, apparently, the E340 "kits" which are pre-stuffed boards which you get from Paul...and appear to be available.

Are accessories (distro boards, cables, PSUs) "finished modules" or "parts"? Where does one actually see availability? Rails seem to be the latter. The rest?

Again, maybe I'm the only person this is unclear to. And no doubt things are under-documented during the transition.

As for DIY, it's the only way to get some things as Paul isn't carrying everything forward to 5U. I'm happy to pay to have other people assemble modules (and have). It helps to know what I can actually buy.

I follow the motm yahoo mailing list and Pauls posts here. No need to be confused if you just access the right information. It's like any facet of diy - you just need to know where to get what you need, which can take a bit of research most of the time. If you think this is confusing, wait til you get around to picking odd sized capacitors. Or resistor arrays.

I'm glad I started the thread though as it cleared up a lot of the confusion for a lot of people. I learned that the 340 kit is stuffed 8_) but no panel :waah:

I'm still gonna buy it though. I will post pictures of how I mount it and drill my blank panel.

340 kit (stuffed board only) is available from paul by email.
there are 2 FPD files for the 340. one for 1U and one for 2U. you can not use board mounted pots unless your OK with the euro layout.

from what I can tell, the distribution boards are at bridechamber only.

power cables @ bridechamber but sold out on the short 4 pin power.

MOTM power 900 and 950 assembled or kit is at synthtech.com

Paul,

What kind of pots do you use on the E350 and E340? All the pots I find have much narrower spacing for the standoffs. Can I get a part number or even just a part family type?

Thanks!

I posted pictures of my E350 panel and bracket on my E350 page. The board set for the E340 is the same dimensions so I will use the same style bracket for my E340. I'm still waiting to receive my E340 DIY kit but have started an E340 page with my preliminary thoughts for a 2U panel.

Not to confuse matters, but there's an additional option - E340 and E350 are available as FracRack modules via Blacet. I had a Frac sub-rack for some miniwaves and after waiting n years (where n is a number approaching infinity) for a 5U version of the MOTM modules and sick of DIY, I pulled the trigger on the Frac solution. Black panels blend in better with the rest of the system than the euro units and the frac infrastructure is very cost effective.

Cheers,
Roger

Are there any expansion possibilities with the E340 like there are with the E350?

Well, that's odd vocabulary. Normally kits are just collected parts for a DIY project (still safes A LOT of time and soldering is THE fun part of DIY). Sometimes with panel/PCB.
But then: Curetronic also sells pre-stuffed PCBs as "kits". :despair:

@davebr:

Your panel is the killer. When I have assembled my other DIY projects I'm planning to use it if the upcoming MOTM format 350 will not have the whole functionality.
