anyone know a solid way to make some sticky sounds/riffs? i've accidently done similar actions w/ my modular whilst experimenting, but want to realize it more, be able to pronounce it w/ this track i'm working on. can't quite grasp it, but i'm close at times w/ a filter & my twf, some chorus, delay—not on point yet though. this clipse track is a great example, listen to the synth riff, it's the business, so sticky!

also, gastr del sol did another kind of sticky on 'the seasons reverse' ...that stuttering trumpet w/ echo in combination w/ a steelpan & John McEntire's bubbling percussion, which is much more organic...o'rourke is a genius producer & this is probably a little out of reach for me, but i think it'll give you an indication of what i'm after. any help would be much appreciated,

(this website has better audio than the youtube vid)

thanks

Listening to the two examples, the only similarity
I hear is resonance/cutoff with modulation.

I'd be looking at filters/envelopes. Perhaps the
ones you have aren't "sticky".

I have no idea of your budget, if you even have one,
but I think a Serge Creature would serve you well...

a creature would serve me especially well from what i've heard of it, serge is my next investment, but that's a few years off. my only filters at the moment are a polivoks vcf, TT z2040, & qmmg...been in the market for another, i've been eyeing the korgasmatron though it might not do sticky idk. i'm really looking forward to bionic lester as well. any other suggestions in euro?
