Yes, I agree with this, except in the occasional situation where the platform smells really bad. But that is not usually the case here, depending on where the ipad has been, of course.
| Quote: | | The tablet market is either iOS or android for now. When serge enters that market we will see how they compete, but vs. android, iOS is vastly superior on audio integration. |
ok - I didn't get that by platform, you were restricting it to only these 2...
| Quote: | | This is not a platform debate, if this app was running on my magical touchscreen cheeseburger it would still be a great app. the fact is, a touchscreen computer in a 9.7 inch screen factor is a relatively new invention. So making the mother of all digital synths on a tablet that has only existed for two years is not really hyperbole. In the early years of any technology, the envelope of what is possible is constantly pushed. So for a two year old platform, this is remarkably polished. |
ok. And, I do think that in 10 years, there will be remarkable things coming out of this type of platform. But overall, I was not impressed, other than by its potential. But yeah, fuck it. _________________ http://soundcloud.com/ancient-eyeball-recipe/sets/this-is-the-sound-of -your

Just as a reminder the MPC and most MIDI pad controllers can send poly-pressure.
I like it more than the simple hardware Moogs I've used. Much better for the types of sounds I enjoy.
Nice, but kinda funny to see Moog thinking more about ways of making a touch screen interface work rather than slavishly mimicking hardware, as I think of them as traditionalists. |

I can't stop playing either. But.........I'm afraid to hear it through my DAW, quality speakers or headphones. Sounds great through Ipad's speaker!
Could this do what hundreds of VSTi's by Arturia, GForce, Wayoutware, Sampletank, etc can't?

Don't want to support the big bad apple? Buy used. That's what i did. It went to help a college student out rather than help put money in Apple big wigs retirement fund.
Not sure how anyone can dismiss a 99cent app that sounds as good as it does. They should really port this over to VST. _________________ Synths: TT-303 . Analog Four . Octatrack . Eurorack Modular Goodness . uWave II (not working) . Monotribe . Monotron . Monotron Delay

I've been really enjoying this app. It just sounds GOOD! Besides virtual midi and background operation, I wish it (and several other apps) had the option of playing a track in the background so you could play along with it and be able to record your performance (without the backing track) so you export it to use in one of the DAW apps for the iPad. At least this way you could get a good feel for timing and expression and such...
I've done somethin similar running Meteor in the background, playing a couple tracks and then playing another app, like Alchemy Mobile over top. Problem is the Daw uses resources that could be used for the performance app... _________________ Dave Sneed

I just realized how the timbres relate to the grid. Lordy lordy, I am really stunned by this thing. It sound great in my headphones.
It'd be great if you could control the amplitude of each timbre, or use external input in a timbre slot a la Wavestation A/D... I'll almost be tempted to sell my A/D now in any case. |

Great app, I've already fucked off a lot of time playing with it - much enjoyment. Dig the 216ish controller section, the sound quality, and the perty pictures. Would love a hold function by the controller, a bit of routing flexibility between the recorder/synth/delay/filter, and obviously the ability to pull in our own sound sources, but for a buck it's an incredible amount of bang. _________________ Soundcloud | Twitter | epicurean.com |

I remembered to grab it last night, and holy hell do I love it. Very nicely done, Moog. I was jamming out some Black Moth Super Rainbow melodies in no time. _________________

I can't express how much fun this app is.
It is portable and limitless sound wise.
The timbre section is so fun once you realize that the 8 grids each have an assignable osc and that you could morph your sound. |

Downloaded and completely amazed. Poly pressure, and it detects when you're sliding individual fingers to play legato or tapping to play staccato....
This is definitely a noodling app, going to hook it up to my MPC and chop the hell out of some synth lines tonight. |

| Is there a manual/walkthrough guide online somewhere? Tons of menus but I haven't worked out what they all do yet or exactly what the signal flow is... |

I like playing it in portrait orientation. I find it easier to move each hand in opposite directions to get more variety in the modulations. I hope they add a bit of support for this by giving an option to change how the knobs function. I'd also really like to see the delay settings as mod options.
I wonder if we'll see a hardware version of the controller. |
