Love dez cats. But I hope the album isn't so straight up like this. I love their weird hiphop maxi rave blast mix, so I hope they keep exploring. Just In case some get confused, they are not homophobic. Their dj, the mc spitting those lines, is gay. In south Africa certain words lack the strange power that they have over others. The dj is making the faggot word his bitch as they've said. _________________ www.joylessrapture.tumblr.com |

they actually dropped Interscope because Interscope were trying to fuck with their sound and they decided to start their own label to release the new record, Zeph Records. Gotta love a band with morals!!!!
something about yo landi really turns me on...her voice makes me all tingly inside _________________ works for Malekko Heavy Industry |

Waddy Jones does it again. Definitely pushing buttons with this one.
I saw these guys do set with Aphex Twin in London a while back, it was pretty epic. |

What a strange 'band' - I love these guys because they have somehow managed to be commercial but progressive and yet get some attention too - good on em (mate)! - I don't know if I like the the music as much as I like them as artists - apparently totally CONTRIVED (btw). hmmmm..... _________________ KALI

I like the fact that they exist, but their music isn't my cup of tea. I hope they're very successful because the world just isn't weird enough for me. _________________ bsmith: it would be awesome to see people with lots of euro give them pokemon values and do battle

meh. it was OK. the whole end part was a flat yawn. there is a way to do that kind of thing and they didn't pull it off in my eyes.
there's something there though. i do like their more playful side. i hope they keep it weird. _________________ LABEL TWITTER FACEBOOOK SAMPLE LIBRARY

I really dig the weirdo aesthetic. Not sure about their music though. |
that's funny. and yeah.. i get the whole idea of word ownership etc but that doesn't make it any less boring for me. perhaps it's just lost on me.
but i LOVE the earl sweatshirt record.

me too. it makes it easier for me to overlook the parts of the music i don't like... the crush on yolandi doesn't hurt either. that first track they put on youtube was a homerun 100% win for me. _________________ LABEL TWITTER FACEBOOOK SAMPLE LIBRARY

Earl rocks it hard. Haven't been on the up and up as of late but he was my favorite part of that whole sk8 clique. Last I heard he was in reform school and had to give up rhyming. _________________ www.joylessrapture.tumblr.com |

not to sidetrack the thread.. but the story goes.. earl's mom saw the video and sent him to boarding school/youth camp/boot camp in africa somewhere. he was 16 at the time and i thought he'd be back once he turned 18 but apparently wherever he is doesn't recognize adulthood until 21.
so, maybe he's in africa and can head south and link up with Die Antword for a wicked collaboration.
there i brought it back around _________________ LABEL TWITTER FACEBOOOK SAMPLE LIBRARY

i LOVE these guys. Saw them live a couple years ago and it was fucking amazing. GOBS of energy. Usually minimal sets with a few MC's and a DJ bore the snot out of me... these guys took a dead beat up crowd from an overly long festival and raised them and myself from the dead and ruled it. MIA had no chance after them... crowd left in a giant mob when she could keep up the pace. _________________ my bands: THINGS OUTSIDE THE SKIN / Tongue Muzzle / The Qualia / Controlled Bleeding / the label: Facility Records / community: DarkSonus / my site: Chvad

perfect Burroughsian pop music
don't really get the connect with Earl Sweatshirt at all, that stuff is (to my ears) badly produced back-packer ish whereas Die Antwoord is polished futurista pop.
I think the confusion of sexual stereotypes is really interesting (but, is that REALLY DJ Hitek!?!) I love the way Yolandi flips back & forth from cutesy raver chick to violent skinhead chick all the time "worlds ugliest hottie" indeed!!
if you dig the rave-pop-art clusterfuck end of things check out 'the cat & the raven' mixtape by Venus-X from Ghe20 G0th1k. There is a bunch of their mixes floating around, but that's my favourite. |

Wish I could get into them but I completely do not get the appeal.
Like a WWE white trash comic book version of hip hop. |
