Hi, we recently built two ADSR-VCA modules along with the upgrade board. In one of them the led stays on when connecting it to the power supply, so I guess it must have a short somewhere ... anyway any pointers would be highly appreciated.

The second one seems to work, but it shows the same behaviour also described here: http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15240
There is an audible click and there is no release, the release knob does nothing. In the cited topic the CV input is mentioned, but with the current version with the upgrade board, there is one CV for each stage, so I don't quite understand the solution. We tried plugging everything to no avail. Does anyone know?

Also, I must admit I am a bit confused with the user manual. It seems to imply that several types of envelope are implemented (AD, AR, ADSR) but it's not very clear. Perhaps it would make sense if we got the release control to work ...

It's worth testing the ADSR modules without the Upgrade board attached first. Make sure you have the four little jumpers inserted on the AD and AR headers of the VC-ADSR board.

What mode are you set to? The Loop mode will keep the LED on if the module is looping or is in voltage output mode. Does it stay on in NORM mode?

What are the output voltages from the VCA output and ADSR output with no jack inserted into the VCA in socket?

Put an audio signal into the VCA input socket. Can you hear the audio from the VCA output socket? Does it rise and fall in volume when you trigger the ADSR module?

When you say click what are you doing to make it click? Are you listening to the raw ADSR output or the VCA output. Both will click or thump heavily with no jack plug inserted into the VCA IN input. Only the ADSR will click with a jack inserted into the VCA in socket.

The ADSR output is the raw control voltage output that moves from 0V to 5V when the ADSR is triggered. With fast attack and decay or release listening to the output of an EG will produce very large clicks or thumps.

All three types can be made with an ADSR module. However, there are some EGs that do only AD or AR. The Oakley VRG is one such EG. The ADSR will be able to replicate the actions of both AD and AR curves by using the sustain pot. With the sustain pot at 0% the ADSR behaves more like a AD. With the sustain pot at 100% is behaves more like an AR.

Hi Tony, thanks for your reply. Disconnecting the upgrade board (which unfortunately we had connected directly by soldering wires instead of headers) really did wonders in finding some problems for both modules, one of them is now done (it had reversed diodes in the upgrade board). The other one had some bad joint and works without the upgrade except for the attack, but now I have a working model so it shold be easier to debug.

thanks!
