| so anyone using these? i thought only intellijel had a solution like this. the vactrol level and various shapes the malekko offers is intriguing for sure |

can someone post a photo of it? dying to see what it looks like and all i can find is a drawing online..
also can someone compare/contrast to the intellijel fade module? malekko seems more interesting and intellijel seems more scientific. am i missing anything? |

The FADE is fairly spectacular! Uses TWO VTL5C3/2 vactrols.
The audio rate modulation of the fade AND level KILLS!!!
It's truly excellent, I think I need about 5 more. |

| i'll see if I can make some examples--where you can tell what's going on, but the audio rate on the fade and the level, seems to result in some gorgeous FM bliss, for many signals that seemed a bit plain before.(gets very buchla-ish and very triangle core osc-ish) -- pretty different from the XMIX, which I have two of, only one Fade. The Fade is also pretty straight forward, so good for most mixing tasks. need more! |

simple- NO FILTERS OR VCA:
This is only two AFG sine waves into the FADE, the xfade CV is from a cycling Envelator. level mod CV from a
Wiard/Malekko uncle osc.

Cool sounds Phil.
I already planned on having a few anyway, but you have just confirmed that it is something I need a few of...
Oh and thanks for this too:

Anyone know the voltage specs on this? What level signal causes
what behavior? Will it pair in a Malekko/Wiard w/ Envelators +10V,
or is it -5V to +5V for LFOs, or 0 to +5V like Cwejman ADSRs...
Basically, what is 100% one side and 100% the other side of the
fade? And will using +10V clip it into distortion or does the addition
signal over +5V cause no additional behavior? Or is +10V 100% fade?

Hey matttech,
Got my fade last week. Still getting to know it but really love it so far. Set up as a VCA for me at the moment which is great. Absolutely no bleed through from two signals when moved hard to either side (got rid of a Synthwerks Fader as it bled everywhere) and just as good when CV the fade control (which is awesome fun to do with something like a chaotic E355) The blinkenlights are fun to watch spazzing out with this
Will completely go to silence if only one signal input is present and fade control is moved to the opposite side.
Very, very smooth crossfade, sounds lovely. Haven't had it clip or anything (but I may not have pushed it hard enough).
Was originally going to go for the uFade, but they weren't in stock so I went for this instead and I'm very glad I did. _________________ www.eschelyn-music.com

Cool. Cheers for the feedback! I have the same issue with the synthwerks fader, although James has been in touch about a potential mod that should improve things. Apparently the bigger, active version is designed more for audio. I really want something in 4th that does clean vc and manual fading, and this sounds pretty interesting. _________________ WTB: a172 min/max, Focusrite Octopre/ Saffire PRO40, Rubicon, modcan dual delay

2 quick questions about the fade -
1: with cv inserted (or even without it), can you use the level pot as an attenuator like on the vca module?
2: used as a vca (without modulating the xfader - only the level control), does this ring like a vactrol? or is the vactrol only on the xfader? |

thanks! i got mine and am still trying to wrap my head around it. the level pot seems to operate inversely - i was expecting it to be like half of the vca module but (with no cv) there's no signal at cw and full signal at ccw.
also, channels 1 and 2 respond very differently to the same audio source - channel 2 clips much more easily and is considerably more distorted when fed the same sine wave.
is this normal behavior? |

Hi waveplant the Level is "reversed" on mine too; I think that's normal.
Not sure yet about any differences between the channels; I just got mine a few days ago.
A funny little module but I've already gotten some really fun stuff out of it.
I will try checking for distortion from either/both channels.
