So I'd like to get a fancy delay, something with a lot of fun options, and I keep returning to the echolution. I'm just looking for more opinions on this device and I'd rather ask on muffs than some craptastic forum. I've seen it's name pop up in several threads.

I've considered the strymon timeline but am not sure that I like the layout/menu system, I already find my pitchfactor to be a bit of a pain in that regard. Having patch storage is unimportant to me. The echolution looks much more immediate.

Another contender is the Empress Superdelay which I know nothing about, although from the demos I've heard I much prefer the modulation of the pigtronix.

Any users care to chime in? I've heard noise can be an issue, is that true in your experience? Any awesome pedal delays, preferably with tap tempo, that I'm missing out on?

Thanks!

I didn't like the sound - had one a couple of years ago. Of course, these things are suggestive.

I do have a diamond memory lane 2 on sale in the b/s/t forum, but that's a different kind of thing, I guess.

I saw your FS post and am doing some research on it....looks very nice.

edit: my only concern would be overlap with my Pittsburgh Delay.

Nelson, do you remember there being a problem with noise (the unwanted kind) with the echolution?

I don't recall, but I don't have any specific memory of this. I'm sure that there are other members here who currently own one, and can chime in. I think that it generally has a very good rep (?).

I have one in my guitar practice rig and its pretty nice, I like it. I think in general it is expensive for what it is, but what it does it does well. No noise issues.

I'm enjoying mine. It sounds great to my ears, although I also love my sound of shadows so, take that with a grain of salt and a pinch of garlic. The pedal input controls delay time and is loads of fun. Will take cv in but it needs to be positive only and not to exceed 5v. I got mine in a trade with paul, and I'm very happy so far.

I like the sound of shadows too.....but I'm really hoping the echolution is cleaner than that!

It definitely looks like a lot of fun to tweak.

Just a bit cleaner. hihi
Sounds good on modular signals. Great on the guitar. Looping is weird but it's more of a bonus than what you get one for. There's a good series of YouTube videos on them. That's what made lust for one.

i have an echolution and absolutely love it. sounds great on all of the sources i have tried, bass, drum machines, various synths, aux send from the mixer.

i don't think i'd call it clean per se, but it's nowhere near as dirty as, say, my memory boy. the real joy for me is that it can do both simple delays and crazy rhythmic warping stuff, especially with loop mode engaged.

I have a timefactor, an empress and a timeline. As for the Eventide, hum....I don't know, can't really get what I want from it - a bit frustrating at times, but I must add that it has two independent delays to work with - if you want some hyper stereo thing and create some unique effects per channel, I guess this would be the delay to pick. I figure that with Eventide's new Space (which I don't own and have yet to use), even though its a reverb, guess that the TimeFactor will be retiring soon. After getting the Pitchfactor, though not a delay per se, I left the TimeFactor kept in its box.

The Empress Superdelay has a great tone, wonderful really - but the tweakability is limited. Again, its crystal clear sound is out of this world. Like angels singing in haven.

And as for the new Strymon TimeLine, I'll probably spend the next decade or so exploring what this effect can do - as far as tweakbility, never seen anything like it! Amazing pedal. Some of the presets and modes are just mind-boggling! I have only tried it with a guitar (have been playing around with it for just a week or two - got it recently), but guess it works as well with synths - Strymon as a demonstration of the pedal with synth on their blog, if you want to check it out.

Although I own the MotherShip by Pigtronix (a great pedal, with some very quirky sounds - hours of guaranteed fun!), I have never touched Echolution - but judging from the MotherShip, I bet its a killer pedal.

These are all high quality, high standard effects - depends what you want, what you are aiming for.

Man, you're making me want the timeline. So many of the demos have sounded overly cheesy to me but if it's really that flexible I'm sure I could get some great stuff out of it.....

Man, if you're into tweaking and experimenting with delays, I can't see how you can go wrong with a TimeLine. Despite all the knobs and options on a TimeFactor, frankly, I still find the TimeLine miles ahead. And, yes, like the TimeFactor, the TimeLine carries all the same ins & outs (midi, line in, expression pedal, etc.). I must say that this delay has been, for me, something close to a "religious experience".

Awesome, just pre-ordered the timeline. I had to go for the big daddy.

When you have tested it, drop a line just to know what you think of it. Curious to know.

I had one of these for a while and i felt it was too noisy. I loved the features, though.

I find the echolution is better if you're going for a more digitalized sound. It can work well with synths/drum machines, but felt it didn't deliver well for guitar/bass.

thanks for the info guys. I'm glad I've gone with the Strymon, it seems like the more versatile device and by most accounts it sounds incredible.

Also, there is apparently some big update on the way which presumably mine will ship with.....

My timeline arrived today. Absolutely incredible! I have to say I wasn't really expecting that much, with it having so much hype, but it is blowing me away.

So far I've only been using it with my DX7, what a combo.
