My TR808 has been acting up for the past few days. The step LED lights won't travel past 12 and it won't go into 2nd part. Does anyone have a guess what the issue might be? All advice is appreciated.

This is a complete shot in the dark as it was many years ago but i vaguely remember my friend having a similar issue and i think it had something to do with it being accidently set in 3/4 timing.

I definitely checked the timing and steps. Plus, it's not going into 2nd part (which shouldn't be affected by timing or steps).

I decided to try to capture some samples before it goes in for repair. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any good sounds because the ground hum is so bad. (I tried other gear, too so I know it's not a problem on the sampler's end.) I assume this may also be part of the problem.

Anyway, I appreciate the advice. thumbs up

Feel free to chime in if you've experienced a similar issue or have any insights.

Have you checked the batteries?

Have you checked the power cord?

Stephen

I replaced the batteries and the power cord seems to be OK. I think the last four sequencer switches are kaput. I messed around with it this weekend and was able to program those notes with the tap button. The ground hum might be a different issue altogether.

Any suggestions where to pick up the sequencer switches?

I was lucky that a friend brought over his 808 this weekend and I was able to capture some samples on to the S900. (It'll have to suffice in the meantime.)
