Is it possible to just change the code to increase the range?

Not really, no. There's more fundamental changes required, which is why I've never done a PIC digital oscillator until now. It's not that it isn't possible, just that I was never happy with the limitations.

Microchip have released some new chips which go about 50% faster than previous ones. This gave me the extra power to do a decent job of it.

Obviously with chips at this level (cost £1.20 or so) there *are* limitations, but it's surprising what you can squeeze into them. And getting more out of less is the fun part!

Tom

why not using something more powerful that might cost some $ more ?
10 or 20 or 30$ wouldn“t be much, not ?
IMHO the main investment ist the buildtime

I'd be down for some if this is gonna be your next run instead of the Hearn Morley one. Another run of the VCLFO too mayhaps? thumbs up

The Hearn Morley VCO run is coming first. It's pretty much ready to go. I'll be doing some audio for it over the weekend, and opening the run next week.

Waverider needs more time to get it ready. Tom is still working on some extra features, and I've yet to get my hands on a PIC in order to prototype a PCB, then Tom has to get the PICs ordered in bulk, so I'd be guessing maybe August before we are ready to do a run.

Yes, there will be another run of VCLFO at some point too, though I do have a few spare sets knocking around right now...

OMG! I have received my prototpye PIC from Tom, need to get my skates on and work up a PCB layout for this ASAP! In other news, Tom has added a Glide on/off option, implemented as a socket, so 0V = glide off, 5V = glide on, very much along 303 lines, should be massive fun!

Well there was one spare input on the PIC, so the choice was VC sub osc waveform or VC bitcrush. As this is a wavetable oscillator, it makes sense if the sub osc waveforms are also voltage controlled. The sub has multiple waveforms, as well as -1oct and -2oct, so VC of waveform is gonna sound very cool, pseudo arpeggiated in fact. Besides, I think VC of sub osc waveforms will sound more animated than VC of bitcrush.

Yeah that does sound really cool. What a fun module.
