Nothing too artistic here, just a spot where I thought it would be good to post Fenix demoes.
These are just me testing my system.

Sequencer triplets and duplets

fascinating - I probably won't ever get one or see one so this is the closest I'll come to one. Thanks for sharing.

When i heard the fenix II/III getting in production i sent an email to Bert just before he determine the waiting list... I was really digging the first Fenix at this time. But i unfortunately had to cancel my "order" because of my actual Serge setup. Really different beasts so i don't regret anything but i can't stop thinking the Fenix is an amazing synth. And based on your demo it looks like it sounds marvelous too. Thanks for sharing ! thumbs up
Morley
Cheers. It is amazing. So much variety and it all sounds excellent.
Of course, a Serge is also killer synth..but both wouldn't have hurt (except financially!) I am going to get a lot of use out of this.

nice. Guinness ftw!

Excellent stuff. Wonder what will come out when you get more time with em :p

something more noisy, just playing with the LPG and the Formant Filter vs. Phaser in the other channel. One take, NO external processing--also, did NOT use the delay. Just starting to sort out the seq, so annoying tempo tweaks.

Nice!

Sorry for crossposting but I think this is so nice:

Cool sounds and a excellent vid!

jenamu6 : I've seen all of your Fenix videos and quite a few of your others, and this was my favorite so far. Exceptionally tasteful and skillful drumming.
jenamu6
thanks but its not me drumming...its afriend of mine

Quick and silly fun, Fenix II example messing with its' unique Wave Multiplier and Formant Filter.
Basically this is only ONE VCO>Wave Mult>Formant Filter, with lots of modulation of course. Due to a shortage of patch cables(making more now) no VCAs or Envelopes were used. The delay and phaser were NOT used. No external processing

Thx thetwlo
It's clearly a flexible beast! Soon, I'll do some videos.

Definately hope you get an album out of it smile

thumbs up thx

this thread is amazing.

I just found out something really cool.

I have this Bohm Digital Drums, a funky german Linndrum soundalike.
This thing doesn't have midi, only tape sync....FSK

I got frisky, took a midi cable and cut of 1 connector, put the other one into the Bohm. Made earth connection and found the pin sending the FSK pulse.
I put the pulse into the Fenix Sequencer.......and now they are in sync.

Demo:
Morley
funky!
I have a Bohm drum machine too! Display goes out after a few seconds though. Need to sort that.
jenamu6
That Bohm is funky as hell, you should have it checked David
Zeno
I'm eagerly following this thread! Lusting badly for a Fenix...
Blue Meanie
A demo using just the Fenix II live. Bassline is going through a DMM big box, otherwise all coming out of the Fenix.

[s]http://soundcloud.com/countgritula/dying-is-easy-part-1[/s]

Again just fenix and with a DMM on the pads.

Truth. Cheers guys, now I listened to all of this after an hour of Buchla 200 youtube stuff, so I'm now lusting ALSO over a Fenix. I have too expensive tastes for the tumbleweed in my wallet.

thetwlo
amazing demos!! thanks!
This compact beast offers so much, and such a diverse palette.
thetwlo
no effects, even the Fenix II's delay and phaser were not involved. Just testing the sequencer. And btw: this seems to only use at most 60% of the FII.

it may simply be the joy of tweaking, that makes this the best synth ever.
This baby eats patch cords!!! whatever you think you'll need X4 is conservative.
m0rb1d
absolutely stunning sounds!

I haven't had much time to use mine recently but it still blows me away.

lol

Working on my house for the minute.
Fenix soon.
It's a monster.
Reese P. Dubin
Mine has been in the house for a day and I declare it the most amazing thing I have ever touched that is not alive...but it almost is. Unreal.

So what do you want to hear??
hellohihowareyou
I'm not too picky. Been waiting for mine for years and it's going to be a couple more months so... anything really.

How about :
- Shorter reverb style delays
- an example of turning up the individual wave multipliers
- the most classic thumpy moog style bass you can create (no one ever makes those kinds of demos, but it should be possible)

delay is VERY short--comb filter/flanger mostly. Still, great.

That is also, an odd one, perhaps best for CV? I love it now, but admit I was initially confused, I could be wrong but I think it's more like the plan b wave splicer on steroids, than any wave mult I've come across

The "Waveshaper" sounds much more like a traditional wave multiplier to my ears. The "Wave Multiplier" is some kind of sequencial switch. Plug the "Puls1" and "Puls2" outputs of oscillator 2 into its "InAC" and "InBD" inputs, and the "Sqr" output of the oscillator into the "Clk" input and you have something very similar to the Livewire AFG's animated pulses!

I ifnd the wave shaper to be nearly identical to The Serge Wave Mult B, which I like very much. The "multiplier" is something else alltogether and I dont nearly have my head around it, but I can tell it will be amazing when the secrets are revealed.

As for big Moogy bass the LP tap of VCF1 is a monster. I find it more blatantly ballsy than the 24db on VCF2.

Try and get some stuff recorded sometime soon.

hey David..hope you're well

each time Andrea came back from yours with a tune I'd ask what made this or that sound...was always the buchla, unfortunately you couldn't buy them for love nor money back then..I have one now tho and very happy I'm too !

Hey Jamie, good to hear from you
I sold my old 200. MONEY! Fenix is seriously filling it's shoes but Buchla lust is still there..
Do you still have your Serge?
thetwlo
never mind-- too long, and pointless--had to remove, will edit and put something back up.

Thanks for posting, Blue Meanie. What are you sequencing with? You didn't get the III right?

Thank you! 8_)

No, I don't own a Fenix III. Tunnel vision was spliced together from a long session with no sequencers. I'll walk you home had a fat controller driving the SY-1 for drums and the Fenix II sequencer for the one repeating line. I played the bass live via the Fenix using VCF 3 and the other high melody was an MS-10.
amnesia
Obviously a synth can be any thing you make it but my main concern is that is seems more geared to be a musical instrument more so than an abstract noise maker.

Any Aussies own one? I would be interested to see how much postage would be.
hellohihowareyou
While the Fenix can definitely make abstract noise, there are probably other modular systems better suited to the task.

Yes there is a simple interfaced wavefolder which works fine.

Someone on another fenix thread said the wave multiplier was geared toward vocal synthesis. I though that was a mixup since I was mostly familiar with resonant bandpass filters for analog voice synthesis but then I read this

https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61852&postdays=0&pos torder=asc&highlight=vosim&start=0

and noticed the fenix II wave multiplier was VOSIM synthesis if it were done in analog

BTW the "snappy as hell" snare and the two high melodies are the Fenix. Bass is the MS-10 and kick and hats are the SY-1.
