svf cutoff freq. pot issue

Author svf cutoff freq. pot issue
satindas
Hi,
I seem to have developed what seems like a noisy cutoff freq pot on my svf.
To try and decsribe the fault: in self oscillation, voltage control of cutoff freq gives nice clean sweeps but when using the cutoff freq. knob the sweep becomes noisy and unstable. Are there any other components I could check for misbehaviour before removing the pot from the board.

Thanks

It does sound like a bad pot.

The quickest way to check is to put a 'scope on the wiper of the pot and see what happens when you turn the pot. If the voltage jumps all over the place you need a new pot.

If you don't have a scope - I'd assume it is the pot and replace it anyway.

Thanks Tony,
The scope showed the culprit was indeed the pot.
Now replaced and sounding smooth and clean as ever.
