Thoughts? smile

2K? 3K? 4K? 5K? 6K?!

Think it'll cost more than the System 1 ($5,350)?

The only info I'vE heard so far (from the NAMM interview) is it is a keyboard-like input device that can fit in the full length of an 18 space 200e case and is supposed to be "affordable". whatever THAT means in Buchla land.

I would guess it should be less than the 222\223, otherwise what's the point of making it? That said it's also supposed to be another original Buchla design so perhaps it will be an alternative and equally weird in it's own way.

I'm hoping it's some combo unit like his newest trend in modules (267e) that has a significantly smaller price tag. There are plenty of alternative controllers both in function and price from a serge TKB to iPad apps these days so it should be interesting to see what the "New" Buchla comes up with.

For some reason the keyboard seemed like it was going work with the 200e but apply to things beyond it. Taking that into consideration I would think "affordable" would mean that the cost needs to make sense out of the Buchla realm. I would like it to be $1000 or less but my guess is going to be around $2500.

I'm goin with $1200. I assume this is meant to be more of a mainstream unit, and so will be designed to be more mass produced. With Buchla's new business plan, and their current knowledge, and a country called China... I think $1200 should be easy. I mean if someone says affordable how far can we stretch that? For a controller!

It will be a beast no doubt. Cant wait to hear anything...

kind of pointless without any hard specs. My personal guess us it will by like some of his 70s keyboards, easel-like where you had a piano type arrangement of touch pads. Probably the same technology as the 222e/223e but configured in a more familiar way for people used to that rather than having to determine the pad values of a thunder layout.

to me with my 222e I get some inspiration but also frustration. I think 10 cent accuracy is not enough to break out of ET tuning and the arrangement, while its great for multiple controllers is too all over the place for runs pitches in order. Then again I'm not saying the 222e is bad. I'd definitely the new unit depending on features like arpeggios.

I suspect it will be proportional to the number of module-unit spaces it will cover, compared to the 222e, i.e. around $5k, maybe????
I'm curious to know if it will have both MIDI out as well as CV out, like the Snyderphonics. I'm also curious to know if it will have joysticks or ribbon-like controllers like the 217, or both...

Excited.... hyper w00t!!

219

as a non buchla owner I would like to see an at least 4 voice polyphonic controller with poly pressure based after-touch and position sensing in a similar configuration to the buchla flat cv keyboards of yore especially the ones that are linear (no b/w shaped keys just strips)

I think $3000

I'd be very happy if it's something like Snyderphonic's JD1...

I thought one had to prove they're a Buchla owner before being granted such information? Smash!

I hear rumours that you upgrade the software by injecting it with centipede hormone.

The MIDI implementation plus some details about the sequencer are still not finished, but it is nevertheless an obscene fun to play. The pressure (or more appropriately, surface-area) sensitivity response is incredible! Each channel (4-voice polyphonic) puts out its own independent pressure voltage info, making it a polyphonic aftertouch device. If you use the pressure voltage to modulate the filter cutoff (no EG's), opening the filters with your fingers becomes almost a bodily function. It's so fucking expressive!!!! I was afraid the pressure data was gonna go from 0% to 100% in a minuscule amount of skin applied (as with the Buchla 112 or the Serge TKB). The gates will trigger with minimal touch, so it feels like magic....

Highly recommended. And yet, I can't wait for the Buchla to come out!
