with the aid of necronomicron
and this helpful gentleman
...Muff hath snatched me from the bowels of the abyss to return to the living
evidently my work is not done here.
Muff may yet possibly resurrect the 19-odd pages that existed before, but for now I will assume that the ashes of data are scattered far and wide
so, a brief recap:
around a year ago I was up to 36U of euro before realizing that sequencing and multing signals was getting to be a nightmare of cable nests and impossible-to-grok interfaces. it was defeating the main point of modular - the interface.
was also experiencing the common frustrations with eurorack 'standards', connectors, PSUs etc.
decided to try some Serge - 3vcos lent me his soup kitchen for a few weeks and while nice, i wasn't quite warming to it like i had hoped i would.
and it seemed awfully pricy for what it did; totally subjective, i know.
then...stars aligned...a wiggler(jkjelec? dubchild? modularland?) sold me one of his double-modcan racks inside a SKB case w/ modcan PSU for cheap cheap....the same week i acquired a ZerOscillator and Dual FS...two weeks later sacha.victoria hooked me up with DVDO&VCDO&phase/timbre etc and the rest is history.
I've been having tremendous luck with modules i want popping up in B/S/T or going on sale. It doesn't hurt to live only 10 miles form Cyndustries, either. Cynthia has been a pleasure to deal with; most gracious.
And Phil @megaOhm is fucking awesome. Such a cool guy doing some truly beautiful work.
And I have to say that I've not spent any more on modcan than euro - I'm tempted to say the opposite is true, actually.
Less waste.
There's just so much more packed into these modules they're often equivalent to 2-4 (or even 10) doepfer or old MU modules in one.
And the DIY solderless nanner cables are brilliant - thank you modularland again for the tip!

~ The next post will be highlights from all viddys i have made with the system so far. Check back later today...~

Looking good, Shaft! With photos like these, there's no reason to dread the ides of March at all.
Looking forward to seeing all your fine stuff reinstated here at Muff's Hideaway.

That's some cool shit. I'd love a modcan someday.
Is Phil the guy who did the Wiard/Modcan adaptations? I wonder if he could do a woggle/noisering module in Modcan A. |
