A friend of mine is building a new studio. His existing studios are set up for TV and film reference, so this one will house all the analog synths. He's managed to book Davros for reception and has put a call out for "any good 1950ish reference imagery of synth-based studios". I figure the good folks of muffs might just have that kind of material on hand...

"Synthesizers" in the 1950s were pretty different from the ones in the 1960s and 70s.

Much to be found if you search for Bill Putnam.

Another famous recording engineer from that period, Rudy van Gelder (Blue Note, etc.)

couple of pics - Daphne Oram at the Radiophonic workshop and Peter Z's EMS studio. That might be early 70s.

Not synth-oriented studio, but great pics nonetheless - the first from the mixing facilities at the Swedish film corporation in 1956:

And a studio from 1945, same company - mixer made in Sweden by AGA:

Another one, same place, probably 1930s. Mixer probably made by BFA, British Acoustic Films Ltd.:

Just one more:

Sorry for the OT!
