Holy F-ing shit!

Sorry if this has been discussed to death but... Finished my SammichFM build on Wednesday night/Thursday morning - Woo Hoo!

No big issues, had trouble loading MIOS (re-installed Mbox 2 drivers on my crappy XP box and it was fine - No Os X 10.5.8 build of MIOS Studio :( ) and I had th jumpers off for the audio and voltage to the SMT chips... manual was a little sketchy here/I was too tired. Once installed - Brilliant!

Tried the Cntrlr panel (on XP and OS X) and it wont talk to the FM, JSynthLib wont run and the other librarian would randomly crash - crappy XP box! So I uploaded the default patches with SysxeLibrarian OS X - some patches didnt write - general annoyances, but I'm up and running...

THEN - holy CRAP - found the Random function....

JEEZUS! If your even 1/2 considering getting the SammichFM kit - DO IT! Its a wet dream - I have been clicking random and saving patches for the past 3 hours and I thought it was only 20mins - everyone is in bed and I was lost in my own little world! Will post a little demo of the patches if anyone is interested but this thing ROCKS!!!

The random function is cool alright. I sold mine though, lack of any editor annoyed me too much...

More than happy to record some of the random patches Ive been saving - they are SO MUCH fun!

oootini - I know EXACTLY where you are coming from! Ive been fighting non-stop with Cntrlr (for OS X 10.5.8) for a week! I can get it working without crashing but can NOT get it talking to the SammichFM cry

Must try the AU/VST version - hopefully that works better!
There is a panel for the SammichSID too so I'd LOVE to get it working but alas!

Will pop back with a little demo of the random stuff! Its so much fun that hoours just fly by! hihi

Sorry this is so long, its easy to get carried away when playing! No fx, no pitch or modulation. Just the first 90 random patches I have. Im a guitarist so please forgive my Keyboard chops smile

Some of these dont end, they loop continuously so I just flicked on to the next patch. Hope they are of some use chaps and thanks for listening!

Ctrlr is a joke. More or less unusable I think. Shame. There is a renoise tool that allows you to build synth editors by scripting simple XML files - called guru. I'm hoping to put together a simple one for my S-SID...

Renoise tools are usually orettty stable too.

Thanks for the demo sounds!

Hope this is still available when I get my soldering skills up to par. I remember trying to figure out which parts to order for a MIDIbox FM a few years back and being totally lost.

Currently, I'm using an old compaq laptop and adlib tracker for my 4-op FM needs. Wish I could get MIDI into it, but the sound editing is actually pretty decent once you get your head around it.

Sweet! Really glad it was some use thumbs up

I had the kit sitting for months until I was happy enough with my SMT chops - its not 1/2 as bad as I imagined so I'd recommend everyone goes for it while Wilba is still shipping kits! Dont wait if you can afford it!

The only thing is - I cant stop making patched hihi

So much fun!
