Thank you for finally settling the age-old debate over which class of instruments definitely don't work in Country music. |
i'm assuming you mean acoustic instruments don't work, totally agree. Nothing worse than country music played on guitars and drums
check this for the ultimate in synth country
|
I actually have this record. Found it at a thrift store. |

at least jump up to 1:55 for his "patented galloping yodel"
actually I am a huge fan of Kenny Roberts, best yodeller ever |
much better than country. i like the syncopated rhythms during the gallop part. |

Me too. It has some nice instrumental jams for sure.
BUT - I love his shirt more. |

Haha, this thread took a turn for the awesome!
Never thought about country done on synths before. I bet a theremin would work really well, especially for some hank williams. I think the out of tuneness of older country is really appealing (supposedly in part a response to using wore down old gear?). To me it's a really interesting idea to embrace and explore the "deficiencies" of hard to tune analog synths. |

This is probably the most rare analog deliciousness I've ever seen:
Vintage prices sure do seem to be getting out of control |

| Besides loving Focus, yodelling records are IMO the most fun turntablism fuel ever. Probably turns into a novelty if everybody plays out like this. Do yourself a favor and scratch them around. |
