I'm well impressed by what I've seen of Silent Way. I have a few questions I haven't seen asked here... any info would be appreciated.

Firstly I've got a Saffire LE interface. This isn't DC capable but has coax SPDIF out - so the product I'm looking at getting is the ES-4. Will any interface doing SPDIF work or is there some incompatibility out there?

Secondly most of my gear is DIY 5U 15V with 1/4inch jacks. I'll probably end up building a 15>12V circuit or proper 12V supply with some jack adaptors - does the ES-4 need a 5V line? Would it be ruined (or behave unreliably) if I tried to run it from 15V, and if so are there are any plans to do anything in 5U/15V land?

Thirdly, out of interest I installed the plugins and made up a basic rectifier cable just to see what results I could get. However I can't get that far. I'm using Live 8.2.5 on Win7 and SW AC encoder causes crashes every time. It happens the moment I flick to another track. When I return to the SW track, all the SW VST GUIs are blank. Live becomes unresponsive and will then crash after a minute or so. I've tried 1.7.1 and the latest beta from the links in this forum, both have the same effect.

It doesn't actually seem to do anything, even if I manage to stay on the same track. I've tested my rectifier cable and it will give out reasonably steady DC if I send some fast sinewaves through it and play with the track level.

Anything with S/PDIF should work fine.

The ES-4 will work on a 15V supply. It internally generates 5V so you only need to give it ±15V.

The GUI issue you describe does happen rarely on Windows machines. The first thing to check would be whether your graphics drivers are up to date.
