Well its taken a few years to get this thing up and running. Started ordering one thing at a time from Synthtech over 5 years ago. Lack of funds, long lead times and some stupid decisions like not thinking about which modules to get first (forgot all about multiples) has taken its toll, but I finally have a system thats fully working and I couldn't be happier...
MOTM - 101, 2 x 190,2 x 300, 320, 410, 440, 2 x 800, 830
Oakley - VC-ADSR/VCA, Super Diode Filter
Zeroscillator - (took over a year and a half although I guess I'm one of the lucky ones!)
Sputnik - WCRS (just arrived)
So I've been reading the forum from afar for quite some time now and its time to get involved...
GREETINGS.... |

This is certainly a renaissance with bells and whistles on in the modular world. More MU is good for you, that's my motto...

I think you did well on the planning. If you need multiples then now is the time to dip into DIY. A blank panel from The Bridechamber and follow the instructions at MegaOhm Audio website for wiring a passive multiple is a very easy and rewarding way to get started into custom builds.
What cabinet design did you choose? _________________ OpenTape

The Multiples sounds like a great idea... I've been abit intimidated by DIY but would love to be able to do it.. How would you make the holes in the panels?
As for a Cabinet, I'm not there yet. I've had to remove some of my outboard gear to put it in my rack... not sure, I like the idea of a big wood cabinet but I would like to move it easily... I record my band in a large hall quite alot and want to set it up there from time to time! |

An EWI Tourcase from Audiopile is a good way to get everything road ready. I have a case for my 5U stuff patterned after the instructions found on Richard Brewster's (pugix) DIY page.
Also the 22 space portable cabs from synthesizers.com are very easy to transport. No doubt you know this already.
As far as DIY panel making, there are endless threads in the Music Tech DIY section here at Muffwigglers group. Here is a good place to start.
You can even buy printed with the holes pre-drilled from Re:Synthesis (big blue wave) in a variety of styles. Like quad or triple multiples with swited connectors or attenuated multiples. These are available both as finished modules and blank panels that you can add your own jacks and wiring. If you are in the UK then the price is cheaper than synthesizers.com. If you are in the US then dotcom will save you money.
...whcih brings up another topic. DIY is not a cheaper way to do this. It is just fun and a good way to get exactly what you want.
Have fun _________________ OpenTape
