Nice work Richard. I enjoyed the track. Will you release it (the album) digitally at any point or will it stay vinyl only? _________________ http://recoilsun.bandcamp.com/ |

fantastic Richard well done
I too would be interested in a digital format as the record player is in storage and needs a new stylus _________________ Cheers

you guys! the analogue thing only goes so far eh? and I thought you'd all be going to CD-burning fairs at the weekends...
seriously, thanks for you kind words, I do hope we can get the album licensed for a CD release one day, or maybe a download version, but at the moment its a limited edition vinyl only. Its so difficult to make any money from any kind of release these days I'm just happy to find a label who felt strongly enough to get this far with this one.

I've been spoiled by the unlimited access to my music collection my ipod gives me. Sadly my vinyl sits in crates in a closet. Hmmm...I should get a turntable...
Congratulations though. I like how you're blending electronics and traditional instruments. _________________ http://recoilsun.bandcamp.com/ |

| Great to hear Richard! Sounds fantastic the one track you have up. I'm with you on the analog stuff though!! The studio I'm interning at right now tends to say "fuck you" to digital! Only within the past year and a half have we even bothered to get a pro tools HD setup, before and still it's almost all tape! |

| Beautiful. Inquired at the label about direct ordering a copy. Ready to vote for vinyl with dollars, but here's hoping the beauty reaches a wide audience! |

got some stuff on vinyl too - one LP run and picture disks even!

For one-offs or small runs of vinyl, I fully recomend these guys -
perthection
For ten or more 12" albums (18 min per side) its AUS$20 each. _________________ learn something - DIY

gosh no, I'm doing the electronics (synths, buchla lightning, sampler, processing, mixing and mastering). the flute is Clive Bell, this guy: http://www.clivebell.co.uk/news_l.htm an old friend and collaborator, he plays with Jah Wobble and David Sylvian amongst others, we did an electracoustic/ambient album together for Kwan Yin a couple of years back, mostly just flute and eventide: http://www.subjam.org/archives/67#more-67. I should get some samples of that up.
When i said "i "made a record i didn't wanrt to suggest its a solo project: The other musician and producer is multi-instrumentalist Dave Ross, we did many projects together over the years - he's playing percussion and hawiian guitar and also some live processing of his sounds, we pretty much crafted every damned note of the record together.
but i thought you would all be asking about the equipment? but I'm almost glad nopbody did! you guys like music too? that's great
vinyl is still special I think, sonically and symbolically, and a reason to make geat artwork (Twinkle looks really lovely in the flesh, the photography and design are very special), CDs will be historical and therefore a little bit romantic too I guess... I ipods disgust me somehow, i don't believe in the sound and some days it seems every fucking person in berlin is wearing one, living in their own bubble, it affects the whole society, and its a shame....

I never heard of him actually: anything I should check out? If anything, other than a general sense of cosmic unity which i occasionally feel, 'Atlas of Bells' was pretty much inspired by Rob Hordijk, Jan Punter and those other Nord noodle guys who got me back into modular synths after concentrating on saxophone for many years. Also the amazing community that Nord Modular mailing list formed back in the day, never quite replicated at electromusic.com. Atlas, unfortunately is just a microlabel release so far. Its another I really want to get a wider release for. I've had a couple of labels expressing interest but then it never quite happened. If anyone is interested maybe i should up the whole album?
I've been lamentably bad at keeping my stuff documented - don't even have a proper website, i should spend a week on www.virb.com and get it all up there, but the reality is i always spend that week working on new new stuff - I suppose that's a good thing, but sometimes I'm not sure

nice vinyl andrewF,as for the cutting ,all what the guy wrote is exact except he din't wrote that after playing 30 times or something the vinyl starts to degrade very quickly, those 1pcs cuts are good for test purpose in a club or stuff like that, everything else is plain bollocks.
if u want long therm quality that stands several playbacks over time u realy need to press the record. |

I just listened to 'Let's Make a Solar System" and it's really nice work. I love the lines and how they interweave.
Vinyl huh....
I keep saying I have to set up my old record player. More and more reason to. |
