PSU2 Thermal Pads

Trying to source some thermal pads to sit under the voltage regulators.

Rapid sell a variety, for example:

http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/Berquist-Sil-Pad-400- Thermally-Conductive-Insulating-Material-29639

but also these:

http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/Sil-Pad-K6-Thermally- conductive-puncture-resistant-insulating-material-29638

or these:

http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/Sil-Pad-K-10-Thermall y-conductive-puncture-resistant-insulating-material-61850

and more!

I guess the primary concern is the pads rate/capacity of heat transfer but I'm having trouble matching the requirements of the PSU2 to the different types of pads.

Any help/hints much appreciated thumbs up

Any type will do. The Oakley PSU is not a particularly demanding application for the hefty TO3P transistor. However, I should add that none of those Rapid links actually lead to any suitable ones that are in stock.

Thanks Tony.

Can you (or anyone) recommend a different place to buy them that may have stock?

Farnell have a bunch. This one looks good:

Thanks Tony.

Always the way though: I only need 2 and there's a minimum order of 5 which means I'll have to spend about £5.00 plus Farnell's exorbitant posting costs (probably another £5) just to get two 85p pads woah

Don't have a couple of spares lying about do you? hihi

Alas no.

Farnell don't have a postage charge. But they do have a minimum order of 20GBP if you pay by credit or debit card. Time to stock up on solder or a few extra tools perhaps?

Be warned though, the last time I went to their tools section to buy a few things to take me up to the minimum order limit, I ended up buying a 200 quid soldering station. eek!

^ Oh I know only too well the danger of the Minimum Order Make-Up Spend!

hihi

A very kind forum member has offered me a couple of pads so I'm all sorted now.

thumbs up
