Anything modular synth related that is not format specific.

On a filter or something, i.e., put your sound source into the ouput jack, and hook the input to your VCA?
Would you
a) (what I imagine to be the case) Get no signal
b) Fry your module
c) Get strange sounds

get no signal.

i don't think you can fry a module unless you exceed it's voltage capacity.

I'm sure certain products are more vulnerable than others. I have some Moog stuff that warns you not to connect two outputs together. There is the exception of the Metasonix TM-1, which will give an audio output from the beam tube cv input. Aside from that, I can only think of some switching modules with bi-directional jacks.

I probably do this at least once per patch. Especially on modules with a more left-to-right setup and not the Blacet top-to-bottom setup. I must mis-patch my Frequensteiner every time I use it. It doesn't do anything but not produce sound.

So I guess there's no through-the-looking-glass world of reverse synthesis, replete with RSDAs, FPLs, OFLs, and OCVs :)
