Is the FX3030 capable of doing Karplus Strong synthesis?

According to its specs the delay time ranges from 0 to 1sec. which should be fine. However, the number of "delay repeats" stated is "about 10". So, no Karplus Strong synthesis with this module?

I don't know, but I doubt it.
It's said to have clicks when CV'd
so I'm guessing you can't get smooth changes in frequency.
Maybe if you're just doing discrete steps with an analog sequencer to modulate the delay frequency at short times....?

I would be interested to hear someone's real experience with such a patch though.
Using this module early in a signal chain seems like it might lead to some interesting results.
Gated reverb and whatnot...

To my understanding it will click only on switching between the effects:
Quote:
Select the Effect with the FX Select knob or via a control voltage. Note that a small pop will occur during switching.

While it won't click while modulating a given effect:
Quote:
The FX Mod 1, FX Mod 2 knobs and CVs control various aspects of the effect selected. In most cases, this includes the effect level. Typically, these controls create little or no noise in
operation. An exception is the Delay Time, which will have some noticeable transition artifacts, especially at maximum level.

I was specifically referring to the exception: artifacts of changing delay time;

As you are looking for Karplus Strong,
I figured that is the primary parameter of interest.

Sorry, I had assumed that the artifacts are somewhat diserable for K-S while the mentioned clicks/pops are not diserable.

Maybe it does work. I don't know.

I love the sound of the BugBrand PT Delay when modulated,
but it doesn't go short enough to be ideal for KS.

I remember Bananaplug doing a demo of the Blacet multi effects in which the transition artifacts were clicks.

The PT does lovely clicks a long times,
but the transition effects are these lovely warped sounds.

Doepfer A-188-1 (512 stage) is what I use for KS and flanging.
It has its own clock noise issues as it gets into longer times.

Yes, the A188 seems to be the best tool for K-S. However, I had prefered a Frac kit or DIY project instead of repaneling a Euro module.

Thanks.
There used to be so much more collaborative material,
but unfortunately it was taken down.
Those 2 tracks are solo.
