VCO Fine Tune Question

Author VCO Fine Tune Question

Hey all.

In another thread Synthbuilder describes how to "reduce the range of the fine pot" (R10 to 10M) on the VC-LFO.

I certainly plan to do this.

Have others thought this was necessary with the VCO?
If so, how is it done?
Thanks,
AA

I don´t have the schematics here, but there is one resistor that goes from the fine tune pot into the voltage summer. If you increase the resistor the range of the pot will be reduces. Some do this to get a more precise fine tuning control.

Thanks for the input terjewinther.

Does anyone else want to chime in.

Do you/would you prefer a reduced range on the VCO fine tune knob?

I built mine without, and I've never had any concerns with the tuning on my VCO. And I like well tuned oscillators! I can see the potential advantage, I just didn't need it on the VCO I've built (and haven't found with use that I wished I'd had a different range on that pot either).

thebot-Thanks to you too.
Looks like I'll take them the way they come.
