Welcome to the studio information page! Here's
where we take a closer look at the equipment that
makes the Muff Wiggler Studios tick.
The Muff Wiggler Studios are located in the basement
furnace room at the Muff Wiggler lodge in
Ottawa Canada. Housing a veritable delight of analog and digital goodness,
it's a sonic playground
for the modern audio explorer.

time in this environment:

The image below provides a 'map' as to the layout of the studio:

The studio is divided into two 'halves' by the eDrum
kit that runs down the
middle of the room. The left-hand is the 'command center', giving
the user
complete control of the DAW computer, fullsize MIDI controller, and eDrum
kit. The right-hand side is the 'modular zone', and provides full access
to the
modular synth, rackmount processors, and MK-1402 MIDI keyboard.
Here's a couple of shots showing the 'control station' layout at the DAW:
There are some holes under the desk for running mic
cables into the adjacent
room, so that it can be used to make sound-free recordings.
Since the motivated producer will be moving all around
the room, an incredibly
useful item is the Frontier Design TranzPort. This is a wireless DAW
controller
that works anywhere in the building, and offers full control of Cubase.
Now
recording tracks from the eDrum kit or the modular synth is dead simple -
multiple takes, track selection, arming, solo, mute, mixer settings, all
transport
controls, etc., are all handled perfectly by the TranzPort. I don't know
how
I got along without it.
Coming soon to this section is a closer look at the
modular synth,
a closer look at the Metasonix gear, and a bunch of photos of tons
of pedals. Stay tuned!!
