Re: Buchla love/hate

Having sequencing in the system was really a gamechanger for me, waited way too long. Have fun! Thanks! It's been a long time coming and I've had some lovely sequencers going in via 225 but it feels like a positive step, especially with saving/recall. Currently mulling over whether to rack in my te...

Re: Buchla love/hate

A little update here: although I probably should have bagged the CSR next I've instead picked up a 251e - I think having some sequencing in the system will be another step toward cohesion and will try to pick up the CSR sometime next year. I'm also toying with going e only, though will judge that on...

Re: Oberheim Xpander and modern analogue synths

Speaking of non-sucky patches, I have decided to pass along my collection of patches from 13 years of Xpander/M-12 programming: ~90/100 are mine, have held these close to my chest but now that the M-12 is leaving I'm happy to share. Names are (mostly) meaningless. Many are velocity sensitive, a few...

KMR also sell 5U.

and 500 series, so you might be able to save quite a bit!

Re: MPE controllers

Interesting that coming to the morph after the linnstrument (which I still use) I enjoyed it's greater tactile feedback - yes it's a flat surface (with some raised guides) but the material itself has more flex to it, meaning I can guage more from it in relation to my playing. The linnstrument has ve...

Neilbaldwin / marmot audio is over in Ireland now - he's done some Serge work in the past iirc. Oh, shit! He built the module that needs attention. Ha! Brilliant! Edit: and he’s already been a delight to work with. Thanks, tIB! I see it! Top man is Neil - I'll be over to see him at some point... if...

Re: tIB - Glap Baan (Album)

Pardon my necro but I have returned to this collection - info: Returning to an album I made a decade ago, significant as it was my first set of tracks using modular synthesisers as the primary sound source - an approach I have retained. The album was recorded (badly at times) following a return to t...

Appreciate its all about opinions but I'm surprised to see the xpanders interface bashed - it's probably the best non one knob per function synth I've used. A very quick and intuitive workflow.

Quick question - is the headphone output always very quiet on these?
Not on mine. Probably depends on your headsets (ohm)!? Mine have 80 ohm(s)
Thanks for that 👍

Re: Buchla love/hate

I've always thought Buchla felt like a semi modular modular system You have to get inside Don Buchla’s head to understand his instruments. The Keyboard magazine article that was posted recently here is an excellent window into his vision. If you follow Don Buchla’s thinking, the 100, 200, and 200e ...

Re: Bucha 275r - noise culprit found?

I finally bought double shielded cables to run to the tank - my breakout panel never worked (which is pretty shit as I bought it at a premium direct from Roman) so I'm running direct from the rca outs on the module... can't say I'm getting much of an improvement though maybe a little. I'll test more...

Re: Buchla love/hate

The statement i made earlier in the post was a little succint so i'll add 2/3 more personnal feelings which might help understanding the decision of selling. For me the 200e is a GREAT modular instrument, no doubt. Everything is very well thought of in term of design etc. Clearly a genius system. H...

Re: Buchla love/hate

While I occasionally cross patch I typically patch them individually and enjoy working within one ecosystem. We've tread similar paths and I have a similar approach to (not) crosspatching my systems, clock aside if I'm recording multiple systems together. Once I got into Buchla 200e, the flexibilit...

Nelson, always trust your opinion about these things:)
Have to say that's why I have this on my radar too - while there are things I know I've liked in the past that the baboon hasn't, I'm always confident that I'll get on very well with something that nelson has really gelled with.

would be great if there was some compression in 200e to tame the 291e peaks. I guess I need to patch it. Hope you don't mind me chiming in here, but I have been on quite a peak-taming journey, and have written about it elsewhere. Initially I thought I needed a compressor to tame the peaks you get i...

I've been digging in in recent days and have had some very enjoyable moments, albeit in an always on the edge of being out of control type way. Yeah thanks - I figured that one out as I typed (using the 207e's follower - I don't have a 230e)... if only I was that d...
