Re: Program Change messages from ESX-8MD?

Is the VST3 issue fixed? If not, may want to update the documentation so some of us don't lose our minds wondering why program changes aren't showing up :)

Re: new kilpatrick audio : torque and redox !?

had one. Construction and UI was nice, but I couldn't get on with the sound at all. Sounded very artificial to me and didn't blend with the source material well, unlike my BAM or Mercury 7. Ended up selling it.

Re: Building a system from voices

There are a lot of different voice options, but many are designed to be voices and not truly semi-modular. I differentiate them as to whether there are taps out for the raw oscillator, LFO (if present), EG, etc. I get that the point of modular is to split this up, but at some point it becomes unwiel...

Re: Building a system from voices

right, the key is ensuring you have something with sufficient patch points. But even regular modules often don't have enough patch points or waveforms, so as long as you're aware of it, I think it's fine?

Building a system from voices

Curious if anyone has tried just building a larger system relying mostly on synth voices. The primary advantage is that everything is a bit more compact, fewer power connectors, and better 'compatibility' within a voice (e.g. less debugging why a particular VCA doesn't open up all the way with a spe...

Re: Multiple ES-5 controller VST problem

I figured I'd resurrect this thread as it's the most adjacent to the issues I'm running into. I'm running Ableton 10 on Mac OS (Big Sur) with Silent Way 2.8.5. I'm using an ES-9/4/X8MD. I can use either the ES-5 Controller or Instrument on a single track, and it works fine. I can send midi to 2/1 fo...

Re: Live 9 issue affecting Silent Way VSTs - info and workaround

Is this still an issue with Ableton Live 10? EDIT: YES, IT IS. I had to do Options.txt to fix this, and I'm lucky I stumbled on this note as I've spent the past 8 hours trying to debug what turned out to be an Ableton issue. Suggestion for Os -- a bog standard step by step for the various obvious co...

building DAW CV to MIDI rig

So far I've purchased an RME Babyface, ES-4, ES-5, and ES-8MD. With this config I believe I can control up to 8 MIDI devices. BUT...I assume I also have to purchase Silent Way as well (i.e. the nodules themselves are essentially useless without the plugin)?

where to get a 201e-3?

bought the tactile input port and surface but didn't realize it doesn't come with the passive frame. Nowhere lists it, so not sure what I should do?

Re: Beast’s Chalkboard alternative?

there was a thread on this at some point, but at least the two units I had had noticeable droop on the 1V/oct output, which is a shame since in theory it's a really useful module.

Re: Learning Random*Source Serge panels

Patch Point is more than a store -- they sell completed kits (and have great customer service, as I've bought from them a few times). No complaints about the service, but if you sell a $3000 panel, having _some_ documentation doesn't seem too much to ask? "Individualistic" approach? I want to read h...

Re: Learning Random*Source Serge panels

Yeah, that's the issue for me. There's a lot of assumed knowledge, so when someone is new to Serge (but not modular, as I have Buchla, Euro, and MU), it's just a bit overwhelming trying to figure out even basic things like "What are these inputs for?" Or what are the color codes (I know those are do...

Right - but those aren’t the exact same as R*S are they? It’s unclear what the mapping is.

Learning Random*Source Serge panels

So...it seems like a lot of this knowledge is tribal (reading posts, watching videos). Are there actually any manuals that can teach me what all the pieces of an Edelweiss II, La Bestia, etc. can/should do? Pretty frustrating that not even a cursory attempt at documentation seems to be made.

Two others to consider -- ADDAC 601 and Flame Curves. The Curves doesn't get enough attention IMO.

Re: R*S XL Boat power question

Sorry, wasn't clear -- there is also a hole in the bottom, but with a panel + 2 x 4x4 I would need 3 power headers. The only way I currently see to do that is either with the side mounted PCB (which forces XLR entry on the side) or running three power out the back, which would be a little silly. Can...

R*S XL Boat power question

How are people setting up power in XL boats _without_ going out the side port? It seems that the most common method of powering an XL is with a side mounted PCB + XLR but that isn't very rack compatible/friendly.
