Re: Announcing the Meta Sequencer by Microbe Modular

I've let Bret know about the mishap with the forum migration, he said he'll re-upload the files soon!

Ideally, if it were feasible for future modules, the best solution so far is in Plaits. Plaits is perfect because each pair of synthesis models has its own LED, and those LEDs have only two values, one for the left, one for the right (which are, in turn, selected by the left and right buttons). It'...

Now that some time has passed, I'd love to hear from people who are using the new firmwares on Mutable modules with the blinking patterns. How do these work for you?

Blinking! It is the most elegant and feasible solution and, like so many great ideas, seems so simple in retrospect. Have you tested it out? Yes, it's already been implemented in a number of firmwares for Mutable Instruments. Also the recent Chronoblob 2 does move away from LEDs that change colour ...

I believe the graphics both use the same designer.
Correct, we're responsible for both visual/UI designs.

@Audiodog: Glad to hear that! And btw. here comes Marbles : https://forum.mutable-instruments.net/t/marbles-led-enhancements-for-color-blind-people/14345 How is the color-blind mode different from the default display mode? LED brightness and blinking patterns are more contrasted. Glowing, moderate b...

Looks like a further update has been made, but kinda slipped under my radar.

Rings also got a CB-friendly update some time ago: https://mutable-instruments.net/modules/rings/firmware/

they attempted to accommodate my color vision by changing the LEDs but unfortunately the circuit just wouldn't support different colors as they needed different voltages Yes exactly the same problem with all MI modules. have Clouds and Rings, and want to chuck them out the window often because I ha...

always thought it was just a bit ignorant by mutable, because there are so many of us around (1 in 20 people) Yeah we kinda realized this was a problem only after a bit. I've made a very quick&dirty video showing how the LEDs behave in CB mode. There's a bit of flickering going on due to the camera...

I meant to ask if you're still looking for volunteers. Sorry for the confusing way of stating it. Oh that's what you mean! Well right now we're not actively looking for more people, but if you want you can leave me your email address (send me a PM in case) and I'll let you know if we need more inpu...

What do you mean? If we're still working on it? The answer to that questions would be yes.

While I don't have colour blindness myself, I'm finding this a very interesting and certainly worthwhile topic to discuss. Even for myself, I can find the use of multi-colour LEDs (while pretty) don't necessarily communicate very well what is going on. For example, I have 2 WMD/SSF Spectrum oscilla...

Also, FYI, most colorblind have zero issues with red/green stoplights, they are not really the tint of red/green that we mix up.. It is more fluorescent bright green and red that are similar looking. I think they picked the shade of green very carefully for the traffic lights. Yes, the green used f...

Little update on this thing! There's two new updated firmwares for recent MI modules, which incorporate a "colour blind" mode: one for Plaits and one for Stages. Check them out and let us know how these work for you! Stages https://forum.mutable-instruments.net/t/stages-led-enhancements-for-color-bl...

Yeah, I'd say it is.
You can get some really nice crunchy glitchy sounds out of it.

Yes, there's no way it would make the cover crack or anything - it's just that dust could get in through the slot for cables so I'm not sure it's worth it. Removing connections to other units isn't a huge thing imo - it's not like you're unpatching the whole synth, more like unplugging a pedal boar...

@Agawell: Yeah I'll check that. Prices were just rough indication. I guess what I was trying to say in a bit of a convoluted way is basically that with a proper decksaver that will make the Mantis fit into the bag patched, the Mantis suddenly becomes a really interesting solution! And still pretty w...

Do we allow clearance so that patch cables can be left in place? I'd say this is essential. If we allow clearance for patch cables, would the covered unit still fit in available travel bags? (Me Spaceship / StackSpaghetti Mantis bags) Ideally yes as well. It might be more relevant for people who al...

I think price is a big factor here. Not that I am somebody who always wants everything to be cheap, quality is important to me. The fact is, I am looking into a Mantis because I am realizing that the case I was looking at previously might not be justifiable in terms of price, or to say it with other...
