Re: sandin image processor

That first video was a collaboration between Dan Sandin, Tom DeFanti and Mimi Shevitz. Dan created the analog video device called the IP (which a lot of early LZX modules are based on). It is what made the colors, shadows, etc... Tom created a digital image generation language, on a computer, called...

Re: Why won’t you fit in my case?

As far as the "air" that you can see in the picture... What you might not notice is that if you look up at the top between the top board and the one behind it is there are a couple of non-polar aluminum electrolytic capacitors up there which barely fit between the boards (laying on their side becaus...

Re: Why won’t you fit in my case?

I haven't been around much lately, so missed this thread when it was happening. First, oops... on the metric dimension in that pic. It should have said 6.5cm (65mm). In that original version the bottom board is there for people who don't have a heavy amount of 5v available in their case (or any 5v ...

Re: MVIP is back

If anybody has sent me an email and didn't get a reply, please check your spam folder. For some reason some of my emails are ending up in people's spam folders. If you expected a reply and didn't get one, and it's not in your spam folder, your mail box might be full. At least one person that I repli...

Re: MVIP is back

I was watching the mk1 a year ago since i wanted to do some video to go with the modular. Would this benefit if im not into buying a shitload on video modules? I mean, i want to play live and feed some live footage in there, modulate en spit it back out into a beamer, but mainly keep my interest in...

MVIP module is available again

I have a new run of MVIP eurorack modules now available. The new version (Mk 2) is functionally identical to the original version. Same inputs, outputs, same processing, same front panel. The only differences are physical. The new version is shallower (2.0 inches deep instead of 2.65 inches), and it...

Thanks for the kind words. I've thought about black panels, but at this point don't have any plans to do them. If there was enough interest I guess I could be talked into it. Also, it's pretty tricky to replace the panel on these. I mean, I have no problem doing it, but it's not so easy as a user re...

O'Tool Plus is back in stock at dealers worldwide

If you've been waiting to get your hands on an O'Tool Plus (oscilloscope, tuner, spectrum analyzer, voltmeter, etc...), your wait is over. I had some medical issues last year (all fine now) that caused a delay in getting the latest run of O'Tool Plus modules out. In the past couple of weeks we have ...

Re: O'Tool Plus modules back in stock

In the past month we have shipped several hundred O'Tool Plus modules to dealers around the world. That confirms there's several hundred modular systems now, around the world :miley: More likely several hundred new systems around the world, in the past month. :goo: :goo: There's already a couple of...

O'Tool Plus modules back in stock

In the past month we have shipped several hundred O'Tool Plus modules to dealers around the world. So if you've been waiting for one, check with your favorite dealer. They should have them in stock. And if not, tell them to buy some. We have plenty more ready to ship. The O'Tool Plus doesn't take up...

My new OTP is now unresponsive with only a lit screen. Is there a factory reset? Not mentioned anywhere insofar as I can see. What jumper setting have you got the 5v on?? If your bus board doesn't do 5 v stick the jumper on internal, if it does do 5v stick it on external. Think thats right?? Thats ...

Some modules put out waveforms with a DC bias. Other modules that have an AC coupled output and a waveform that is not a pure 50% duty cycle will appear to have a DC bias based on the duty cycle. In that case the apparent bias changes as the duty cycle changes (if it is AC coupled). When a signal is...

Hi Dave, quick question I have here: For some reason I have tried my O'Tools+ with an Arturia MiniBrute and all waveshapes are displayed perfectly in Scope Mode, but when in Frequency/Tuner mode the O'Tools+ doesn't seem to react with the saw or square waves, only with the sine or triangle wave. As...

Several hundred O'Tools shipped out this week to US dealers. I'm still getting in touch with all the overseas dealers, but we've started shipping to them and several hundred more will ship overseas next week.

This was a massive run, so took a long time. They're all built and tested. More than half are boxed up. They started shipping to US dealers today and international ones tomorrow, though it's probably going to take a week to get them all out to all the dealers, so please be patient. There should be p...

We're a few weeks behind schedule, but working hard to get them done. It's a huge batch, so there's going to be lots of them for everybody. Hoping to have them start shipping to dealers within another 2-3 weeks.

Yeah, sorry. It takes a few months to run a batch. The next batch will be shipping around the end of September or early October. The good news is that it is quite a bit larger than the first run, so there should be lots of them for everybody.

Here's a graphic I made a couple of years ago explaining about using an attenuator and a bias control (adding a DC voltage in a mixer) to turn a bipolar signal into a unipolar signal:

Bipolar and unipolar are separate from AC and DC. Bipolar is a signal that goes above and below zero volts. So it contains positive and negative voltages relative to zero volts (or a common voltage reference often called "ground" though zero volts is more accurate). A unipolar signal is one that sim...

The key is in the name, and simply understanding the English definitions for the words "or" and "and". The logic is based on the idea that a signal goes positive (high) to make something happen. Like a trigger or a gate. If you have more than one signal then you can combine two of them so that if on...

The problem here is one of semantics and context. For the most part people that understand the signals and the terminology speak in shortcuts, because being specific and accurate in the terminology is long winded and boring. And people that understand the signals, understand what somebody else is ta...

So dumb question: Should I be doing something to prevent screen burn-in or anything? If I leave it in the same mode for hours will there be issues? I've pretty much left it in layered scope mode, but the thought occurred to me that maybe the gridlines would get burned-in? I think probably not but I...
