Re: Have You Had to Replace Any Panel Pots, Jacks, Switches and LEDs in Your FracRack?

the pots on my super VCA are crackly and I actually sent it in to John to “fix” something that wasn’t actually broken and had him spray the pots out too. worked for awhile but they’re back to their crackles. i’m not such an evangelist about SMD vs TH but I did stick with this format for the DIY frie...

Re: NLC's A Plague of Demons

yeah if you want Numberwang, but a little chaotic, you want Wangernumb. the Roulette jack coupled with the built in filter gives you a wide range of random-esque gates. you can have it so it’s just trickling out gates or absolutely exploding, or just set it on something rhythmic for the track. it do...

Re: Quantizers in 2020

Thanks everyone, You can always go with the Quantermain in O&C. It's a quad quantizer. I am leaning towards this direction. It will break my rule of no multimode modules or screens, but you have to do what you have to do sometimes... i just bought a uO_C after running out of A-156 channels all the ...

Re: Hybrid Case?

one of the problems i had with my case was finding an off the shelf power supply that was reasonable for the frac row. i did mount a Power One in there but that was heeeaaavvy. my thought was to have a single 15v supply in there and step it down for 12v euro but i never did it.

Re: Hybrid Case?

i alternate frac and euro rows in a freestanding rack. i have two Power One supplies on shelves behind the rack and then one Blacet and one doepfer A100 mounted on the racks themselves. i did have a suitcase for awhile that had a row of frac and one of euro, but it had to be really deep because of h...

Re: Kurzweil K2000R basic model worth $100?

i picked up a K2000 keyboard on the street for free and it did have some issues but i quickly warmed to it, it had a ton of great synth sounds, could get very “fat” and the multitimbrality made it incredibly useful. but just as i was really starting to love it and count on it, it just didn’t power u...

Re: I foolishly forgot about Gil Scott-Heron

Last Poets, rap forefathers. i never really noticed the damn flute on TRWNBT, bit damn, it is awesome. i can’t remember if the whole record had flute on it, but to have this kick ass low end groove that basically just has flute on it, this whistling little spirit on your shoulder through the song, g...

frustrated when a patch doesn’t transfer over right to the Volca FM
it's fixed with the unofficial pajen firmware. never had this problem since.

Re: SY99 or DX7II?

definitely think they fixed this on the DX7II, it seems to be unclear on whether they got to 127 with the SY velocity. i found a yamaha user’s board where some people were claiming they couldn’t get over 100 but reviews from the period say 127.

i bought the SY99! it’s a beast.

Re: SY99 or DX7II?

yeah, i’d be very interested to hear how the DX7 patches transfer over to either board, as i am loving Dexed but sometimes frustrated when a patch doesn’t transfer over right to the Volca FM. i am assuming the DX7II will at least take a patch from Dexed, have to research the SY.
