These two photos just appeared on the 'Friends of Synthesizers.com' group on Facebook. Looks like Roger and company are working on something new. Possibly a twin oscillator version of the Q106?

Re: Stuffing the Dotcom 163 EuroRack Adapter?
Ran into the same 35HP limitation myself recently. My work-around (this time) was to cut two PCB standoffs from the back of the module to provide the extra 'behind the panel' clearance needed for it to fit. It appears we're going to have to be clever and possibly make some mods to shoehorn 36HP of m...

Re: Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts - Digital Modules in 5U
The 4ms Ensemble Oscillator is a brilliant bit of engineering IMHO. The shear amount of tones that can be coaxed from that digital module is simply amazing. Really wish there was a 5U version available. Ensemble Oscillator 2 minute demo (oscillator only - no additional processing): https://www.youtu...

Re: Stuffing the Dotcom 163 EuroRack Adapter?
Make sure your powering is heavy enough to support a couple of digital modules, which are more power hungry in general. 5U powering is designed for analog modules. Noted and covered. I ordered a QPS6+ to go with the QFC22 folding cab and Q163 Euro Adapter. Should be plenty of power for the adapter ...

Stuffing the Dotcom 163 EuroRack Adapter?
Wondering how the folks who have the new Q163 adapter plan to fill it. I picked up a pair of digital oscillators for mine: the Mutable Instruments ‘Plaits’ (AKA SSL’s ’Woven Spirits’ in 5u) and the 4ms ‘Ensemble Oscillator’ (no 5U equivalent). As these are the first digi-oscillators in my rig, I’m e...

FWIW, I've thought of doing the same combo thing with a pair of Q116 Ring Mods.

Was thinking the same thing. Also was considering a few of the BARP 2500 modules for this.

Nice! What Phase Shifter was used here? From the intro video, it looked like it might be an EHX Small Stone.

Re: Let the 5u fun begin
The Yammy FS1R and Argon8M are great front ends for some modular love! That is a really interesting concept. No CV on those modules so how might you use them in the 5U context? I honestly never thought of that. The idea is to use the FS1r or Argon provide the source audio, replacing the modular osc...

Re: What are your 5U plans for the weekend?
Another quickie re-paneling project. This time it's combining 2 dotcom Q108 VCAs into a single 1U panel. Bought two of these from Jeremy Sharp: . Dual VCA.jpg I'll be doing the same conversion this weekend: 4 x Q108 > 2 x Dual 1U Amplifiers. Nice! I've another Dual VCA conversion to get to as well....

This dual VCA re-paneling project came together very quickly. The red switch caps were added to provide a touch of color.

Re-paneling a dotcom Q113 to free up some cabinet space: J225.jpg Where is the new panel from? It's a custom design from Jeremy Sharp in Texas. He's done a number of these reduction panels, including his J247 VCO (combines the dotcom VCO + Aid modules), the J150 VCF (converts the Q150 VCF to a sing...

Re: Moving into 5U advice and questions
One thing rarely mentioned is that the DotCom Q113 eight channel mixer is really easy to create feedback loop overdrive. I believe that technique is same idea behind the 'brute' effect on Arturia synths, except it appears it the filter section. Really adds to the low end. the minimoog had this sinc...
