Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

The reverb in my 208c was too muddy for my tastes. It had too much emphasis in the lows and low-mids. It may not be accurate for an Easel sound but after swapping out a few tanks I settled with an Accutronics 8AB2A1B.

Re: [AVAILABLE] TTSH V4 Build Thread

I installed the Tang Band speakers http://tb-speaker.com/products/t2-2136sa They fit well and sound good but the 4 Ohm impedance is almost certainly causing power problems. If I push them too hard I get some pitch tracking problems Update: I installed this miniature Class D amp to power the speakers...

Re: [AVAILABLE] TTSH V4 Build Thread

Thanks for the tips. I read the similar posts in earlier build threads. I have really enjoyed working with this synth as a standalone instrument and using the internal speakers. I thought the low-fi quality of the 45 Ohm speakers that came with my kit would be appropriate for the context. But now I'...

Re: [NEW] Serge Resonant EQ for Euro by R*S

"The RESONANT EQUALIZER (EQ) is a unique ten-band filter designed specifically for electronic sound synthesis and processing. Except for the top and bottom frequency bands, all other bands are spaced at an interval of a major seventh. This non-standard spacing avoids the very common effect of an acc...

I’m going to try something with the speakers used in this project:

Re: Expanding on Buchla Easel Command

Thanks everyone. I'm curious about the functionality of the 218 vs. various other third party controllers I could get -- especially the Arturia Keystep, which seems really great. Any ideas? Jim From what I have heard there are issues with the 208c and Future Retro 510. The only issue is that MIDI f...

Re: My FutureRetro 512 Touch Keyboard doesn't work with Easel Command DIN MIDI

I have tested my Future Retro 512 with DIN MIDI to the 208c. I can not get the 208c to respond to that MIDI source. I made sure I was transmitting MIDI on channel 1. Other synths do respond to the 512 MIDI DIN and the 208c responds to some other DIN MIDI sources.

Re: [AVAILABLE] TTSH V4 Build Thread

Everything is working well on mine and I'm almost finished. I'm still waiting on a MIDImplant to install. I spent an hour last night poking around a malfunctioning Gate Booster before I found Fuzzbass's post about a run of Gate Boosters with Gate and Trigger Out label flipped. Once I flipped them ev...

Re: [AVAILABLE] TTSH V4 Build Thread

Replacing the resistors did the trick and I didn't need to rework the FETs. Everything is falling into place now with Sine output and Sample and Hold working as expected. Onwards and upwards!

Re: [AVAILABLE] TTSH V4 Build Thread

Thanks for the tips- I do really apreciate them. I've ordered replacements for the 2N4392 and 2N3954. I did not use any heat sinking on the leads when I soldered them in. I was trying pitch calibration when I discovered I had the wrong resistor values for R44, R67 and R86. It turns out my kit had 3k...

Re: [AVAILABLE] TTSH V4 Build Thread

I just finished up and was going through the check-out phase on my first TTSH build. I've got no sine output whatsoever. After some calibration I'm able to get a nice triangle out though. Yes, I carefully swapped pins 5 and 6 on the 2n3954 and used heat shrink tubing to insulate the pins. I also hav...

Re: VCS3 Card for 208 and Easel build thread

I don't want to sound ungrateful for a thorough BOM for this- but does anyone have a Mouser Cart with most of the parts sourced there. I've never actually orderd anything from Tayda. Being in the states, Mouser has been my primary source for convenience. A little part of my soul dies when I think ab...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

Yeah, the Sensel programming process is going to be a bit tedious. I haven't put the time into building presets yet. I think the best method will be identfy what pad settings you want through trial an error, then to carefully input each variable into each pad. Then go back over each one to check you...

Re: Tube amp for Keyboard?

Other than the weight and being too loud for most applications, Fender Twin Reverb is perfect for electric piano sounds. But for synths and samples I think guitar amps/speakers are often too colored. I use Electro Harmonix LPB2ube for some tube saturation into an audio interface pre-amp or PA. They ...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

I just plugged my Sensel Morph in to the computer and looked at the mappings that they have for the Thunder overlay. I don't think the first 5 presets will work with the Command. They are all MPE based presets and we need a simple "Note On" on channel 1 to control the Command's Keyboard (buss?).It t...

Re: Deckards Dream General Build Thread

The schematics for the breakout board show C3 as 100uF. What's the consensus on the correct value for C3? Is it possible the problem of reversed polarity was the result of a "copy and paste" of some kind and also introduced a wrong value into the BOM? I recently bought a used Ver.1 where the fan wil...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

Yes there is a ground Banana in the back of the command. But it may not be necessary if you are going to use the Eurorack friendly 1/8" Gate and 1 V/ Oct inputs that are also on the back of the command. Except for some of the colors it comes in, I think the Future Retro FR-512 is a near perfect matc...

I installed the MIDI A option tonight and that was painless. It was comforting to see a bunch of real vactrols inside. I'm very impressed with the MIDI functionality so far. I don't have the Sensel Morph yet but I did attach a Keith McMillen K-Board Pro to the host port and everything works well. Th...

I’m fairly confident I was able to modulate Attack, Sustain and Decay with the Sequencer and Random. But I still don’t know much about the voltage ranges of those outputs, slider offsets and their effect on those inputs.

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

Only need the optional USB expander on the Easel if I wish to use the Roli or Sensel or something similar (looking for a host) without the USB hub or the Computer correct? That's generally true for your standard MIDI. But MPE capable controllers like the Roli are not standard. I wouldn't make any a...
