Well I've never sold a module and I am building it up over years. It's always finished.

Re: Filters you like with chords

Intellijel filters (Dixon designs) are lovely with chords, you can really tame the input for a nice clean sound if desired and flatter curves like 6 dB per octave works nicely for spread out voicings. Another interesting one is Doepfer A-107. Lots of different filter types, just need to tame the inp...

Re: Favorite modules and techniques for processing sound

Wavefolding is an obvious one but I also like to fool around with env follower/filter chains. 4MS SMR is perfect for this, you can derive gates and envelopes from complex audio material. 👍

Hey, I have one of these, built by someone else with Clarke panel. Channels 2,3,4 work great but channel one has almost no range of modulation and distorts almosts instantly at the audio in? The blue trimmers on the back don't seem to do much? Any ideas? Thanks Dcramer Ha! :miley: Years later, afte...

Re: Panning and cross-fading

I think the a-134 only fries chips when you put in a negative rail without a positive one. Like when you turn on or off the case and the supplies go up or down at different rates. In other words, sometimes, every time you turn on or off the case. :bang: I have only ever used any of these for auto p...

Re: How to patch this...?

This really does sound like a logic module or patch should work: Mult a snare trigger signal to a logic module along with the kick drum trigger signal. The output of the logic module now triggers the kick drum. Set the logic module to mute the output when the snare is high, I’m thinking maybe a NAND...

Hey thanks, yup, I’ll see if I can find somewhere to stash an audio only version for easier streaming👍

Lol, yeah I remember thinking about that PBR mug when I grabbed it! I played a big band gig with a trumpet player last yeR and he had a trunk full of those mugs so we all got em 🙀

Re: How is the Horstronic Waveslicer set up?

Cool vid, I just got one of these a few weeks ago and am still exploring it. Most of what I know comes from this thread: https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=144678&p=1980913&hilit=Horstronic+waveslicer#p1980913 It’s very cool but tricky to setup, seems to focus on comparator/Pwm s...

Re: Doepfer A-110-4 QZVCO Substandard tracking and LED

My silver panel version tracks fine when patched into the 1v/oct input and I usually have the X-Tune and Lfrq knobs in about the 1 o’clock position.
My only gripe is the lack of fine tuning, which is why I tend to use both knobs.

Re: Any justification for waldorf blofeld in this day and age?

Yup, still a great synth and some good prices to be had in the used market. I bought a white desktop as I really needed a small poly for a project and liked the form factor.
My only gripe is the dated sounding reverb algorithms

Yes and there’s the travel size consideration, certain Mantis sized designs are about as big as you can go for Carry-On.
Or at least that was the case before the ‘bugopolypse’ 🙀

Drone Day noodleparty

:guinness: A little Droney jam I did for the BEAMS western Canada Drone Day last night. Ran around gulping gin and changing scenes between noodles. There's an interesting Drone thingy going on where I use three Doepfer Theremin controllers to modulate a Doepfer A-107 multimode filter and a Doepfer V...

Re: Making a patch malleable

Something I like to do with Frames is set the big knob and each channel control to center, run some major CV paths through the channels, and then build the rest of the patch without touching it at all. Then, once I have the patch sounding interesting, I add some frames and mess with the VCA's to se...

Re: Am I not creative enough or do I miss some important modules?

Lots of good advice here. My two cents is this: Think about modular as being “what it does” more so than “what it sounds like”. In other words, with normal synths most of the juicy stuff is hidden away under the hood and the sound shaping parameters are what you get access to. In modular, everything...

Are you sure that you are not waving your hands around while playing a pre-recorded song, I mean that sounds way too musical for it to be happening that way. Kudos Lol, I know! ZOMG! OS saw my message! (Enjoyed you run thru with Sonicstate!) My usage is quite simple; when I travel with a patch, I like to be able to record performances of myself playing. At home it’s easy to patch into the daw with lots of channels but the size of the gear makes travelling with it troubleso...

I was lucky enough to find an old Doepfer A-197 VU meter.
Module works fine but the lights in the VU meter stopped working. :waah:

Anybody know if this can be fixed?

After reading this thread years ago I became very interested in trying to use Chaos CV to control generative patches.
