Re: Best FM module?

Still enjoy my Modcan FMVDO. Seldom seen for sale new in recent years though-would likely have to spot a used one. Came close to selling mine at one point, then spent more time with it and realized it’s a definite keeper.

Re: Doepfer A-130-8 Octal VCA

Sweet. I wonder how many they received, and who else is getting them, and when. I’d like to support my local shop if possible. Detroit Modular has these now. 10% off with Labor Day code. PC is sold out. Got mine on the way. Going to try pairing with Emblematic Catalyst macro controller to adjust re...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

One serious idea, two not so much. A series of 3 or 4 front mounted hooks, loops or clips to keep dangling patch cables running between other modules tidy and out of the way of knobs you need to wiggle. A hidden drawer or thin compartment to stash your weed, cash or whatever. Combination lock or loo...

Re: Mellotron options

Picking up this thread with a simple question : does one of these modern iterations of the Mellotron play samples for more than 7 seconds ? I'd like to play it with uninterrupted sounds, in a drone mode.. Cheers ! The M-Tron Pro software Mellotron includes 40 banks of looped tape banks, these will ...

Re: smaller analog osc with phase modulation?

PDO is also digital. (I'm not sure why analog is a requirement here...) Think it’s actually considered a hybrid. Description per WMD is analog sawcore VCO, with digital waveshaping. Also would like to know why analog osc was specified-PDO can certainly deliver some warm fat tones typically associat...

Re: smaller analog osc with phase modulation?

WMD PDO (Phase Displacement Oscillator). Current version is 16hp but I think there was an original, discontinued version that was just 10hp.

Re: things that would get your Muff license revoked

Expensive cables sound much better, especially the digital kind. They keep all the ones and zeroes separated correctly so they don’t get mushed together into dithered aliasing.

Re: Favorite Smoothed Random

Qu-bit Chance has a nice smooth random. Can be blended with the discrete (stepped) random, has attenuverter on all random outputs. Freeze and manual coin toss features. Also has wavetable random, white and digital noise, burst and rhythmic gates.

Re: Semi-weighted keyboard synth also as controller?

I've had a Kawai K5000s since 1999 and it's gonna be buried with me when I die Another +1 on that. Only negative I’ve got is that aftertouch requires fairly high pressure and could be more linear or gradual. Otherwise wonderful controller in every way. Will add that the 16 knobs transmit midi cc da...

Re: Noise, S&H and Quantizers are missing from my rack.

Just a random thought.... could you create some kind of white noise in a DAW and record it as a sample? I would think that some VST's would have some kind of noise you could generate and record... If you just want noise to load into a sampler, you could get it from a site like this, with white, pin...

I certainly do, though I hadn’t seen that version of the cover. Knew it instantly when I read the hint-a longtime favorite. My copy was signed by the guitarist back in the 70s. Which means I’m not a young punk, so will declare myself ineligible and let someone else have a shot at it.

Re: three songs

Under the Milky Way is one of my absolute favorite songs from the 80s. Loved it from first time seeing the video on MTV, and started collecting Church albums on CD, was only dimly aware of them previously. Priest=Aura is one of their best IMO. Fun fact-the “bagpipe” solo on Milky Way was a Jazzmaste...

Tip: good tool to locate modules you’re interested in is the site wigglehunt.com
I did a quick search on it for “twin waves” and found several new and used in the US and UK-don’t know where you’re located, but some dealers offer international shipping.
