Re: Club of the Snobs... oops, Knobs

For the sake of balance I feel I should mention that my COTK experiences have all been excellent. I did order stuff during the COVID 19 lockdown so expected a delay - but it wasn’t that bad. No problems with packaging. I also once did some work unloading air freight shipments into a mail facility an...

Re: Dual VCO with waveshaper Furthrrrr Generator by Endorphin.es

I’ve just picked up a used Furtherrrr. Am I correct in assuming I should be able to get a clean, unmodulated signal out from the modulation VCO if the lock switch is in the centre position and all of the mid switches are off? I seem to be getting modulation still. It does sound cool though so I may ...

Re: DIY Mutable Unsuccessful Builds

Troubleshooting - where to start? I have a DIY Rings that worked perfectly for a day before dying when I changed the polyphony setting. I’m guessing I have a failed component and would be grateful if someone could suggest a systematic approach to troubleshooting this. EDIT: Reflowing the electrolyti...

Re: DIY Mutable Unsuccessful Builds

I've just finished building a Clouds and a Rings. I Flashed the firmware on Clouds no problem but when I try for rings, I get the following error. Can anyone see anything obvious before I go over the board again? make -f rings/makefile upload_combo_jtag openocd -s /opt/local/share/openocd/scripts/ -...

Re: DIY Trade Thread [ Parts, PCBs, Panels ]

Has anyone in the UK got a spare E-switch LP4OA1PBCTG ?

These are the illuminated switches used on Mutable Clouds. I ordered the wrong part from Mouser recently.

I ordered the wrong part from Mouser and have a whole load of parts and knobs I would happily trade - just tell me what you need.

I suggest giving it a really good clean before inspecting it again. Flux residue can hide errors.

Re: DIY Mutable Unsuccessful Builds

I'm stuck with trying to flash the firmware on my newly built Braids with an ST-Linkv 2 using a Mac. I'm following these steps: https://github.com/pichenettes/mutable-dev-environment However, I keep getting the response: make: *** No rule to make target `braids/bootloader/makefile'. Stop. Any ideas?...

Re: Dunnington 258D build thread

In the BOM, the order code for the MMBF5484s is listed as 512-MMBF5485.

Is this correct or should it be 512-MMBF5484?

Or is either part valid?

All done and all good :) I’m not very experienced with hand soldering SMD parts but with the excellent supporting docs it was fine. 258D next.

Got to get your hands on em. I recently picked up a limited edition Mexican performer in natural wood. I prefer the modern neck style on this model - but everyone’s hands are different.

Are the resistor arrays definitely the right way around? If so, I recommend posting a good quality image of the board in this thread.

I did but don’t quite remember what it was. Must have been a short or a backwards component. It definitely wasn’t anything major.

My early BEMI Easel did sometimes do this until I replaced the 218. Do you know if the 218 still has the original firmware? It was updated after a while.

Re: Dunnington 281D build thread

Just finished building the PCB and realised I don’t know how to hook up the power connector. Could someone please tell me or show me an image showing me which pins on the connector I hook up the +15, -15, +12 and Q to?

Apologies for the basic question but this is my first Buchla format build.

It definitely isn’t one of the 1st generation (like mine) as it has the update slot and the sustain input.

Monome Norns + Grid? Yes it has a screen but it isn’t really necessary once you have something loaded up. You can DIY the Norns.

Might be a bit obvious but did you give the board a really good clean after building?
