Re: Cheapest cassette deck with 3 head and pitch control

the price of any of these machines can be cheap or expensive, depending on what the seller knows. they arent really in demand except to a small scene of weirdos ( ; )). . i picked up a marantz for a very cheap price but had to wait a year or so. just put up an ebay alert or likewise and wait.. good ...

i still use my ipad 2 for midi / controller stuff (touchable and some sequencing).. but its quite slow - but pretty amazing that it still handles alot of apps.

Re: digital piano setup

maybe check out FRFR speakers. they are nice and flat have alot more "body'" than most monitors. i find playing virtual instruments through monitors (including piano / electric guit / etc) to be very unsatisfying.

Re: Any justification for waldorf blofeld in this day and age?

longtime blofeld user here. . got tired of it and bought a novation peak for poly duties. was planning to sell the blofeld; no way . it has some weaknesses but its great for lots of things, its cheap and barely takes up space.

i also keep it minimal so as to not fall back on too much of the same old tricks

but in ableton its 4 audio + 4 midi with a bunch of keystrokes programmed in.

yep... I never understand these "why are there so many for sale" threads. Anything that sold a lot is invariably going to have more for sale on the resale market. ok let me expand my question for people who need it;) there are many mass marketed synths out there that DONT appear on the used marketp...

so many used deep minds (synths)

ive noticed there are tons of behringer deep minds on the ebay (kleinanzeigen) here in germany.

ive been tempted by these cheap monsters recently but curious why there are so many second hand ones hanging around..

any experiences to share? crappy? or just cheap and disposable?

right on i understand. although if you ever need to do commercial / cultural productions i can recommend picking up an old used liscence for komplete and then updating it in one of their sales ( summer and fall)... so much stuff in there to play with.

but i respect having some limits too 8-)

also NI's drumlab and battery are quite good at doing what youre talking about. if you have access to komplete check them out - could be helpful as inspiration for what youre trying to do.

there are the digital drum synths for M4L the christian kleine did.. they might be in m4l essentials or something.

but in general i recommend making drum racks of operator / reason / etc .. little synths that do specific sounds

eventually some re-sampling might happen (cpu) ;)

I have personally grown to loath the “cinematic drums” thing. ...just editorializing... yeah thats the thing id like to find an acoustic percussion library thats not "cinematic drums" or cheesy "ethnic percussion" .. (or drumset / electronics / etc). as a percussionist i know there are alot of soun...

just to defend M4L; there are alot of great patches out there but most are more connected to a DAW / compositional environment rather than a noodle-y synth-y world. ie. multichannel / midi weirdness / effects etc

looking for interesting sample libraries - favorites?

especially would love to get some well-recorded percussion (non electronic / not necessarily "ethnic").

also out of the ordinary acoustic instrument sounds. i have Komplete so all the basic orchestral / "studio" stuff is covered. but there must be better stuff out there.

favorites?
