Re: In praise of the A-111-6V
So lovely. I built a pod case around mine as a mini system with another 2hp osc, a function, a 2hp mixer an older disting,a CVPAL & a noise/random. The CV control over envelope time is something I don't have elsewhere, using it all the time. Just such a round pleasing character to the voice

How to recreate filter XFM from a Dark Energy MK1
My first semi modular was a Doepfer Dark Energy Mk1 that was stolen a couple of years ago. I tried to recreate and extend it in a little pod case, here: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/414746 One thing I can't work out how to get to is the great gnarly XFM on the filter that as possible on ...

Re: Anyone with less than 7u 104hp?
It's been 3 years and I've stayed with 3U 126hp. Definitely a choice about constraining creative choice and containing cost. So, nothing goes in until something goes out of the case. It was about playing live with it too, the 126hp is about as much as I can handle in a live situation. Very happy wit...

I'm using Plaits as my main percussion voice, Peaks doing the model cycling control and an elektron model:samples doing the sequencing through an FH-2, pitch/gate with velocity going to morph cv normally. Very wonderful to play thing.

Re: TRS to Floating Ring- just cut the ring?
Yeah, it's not that simple. If you cut the right wire in there it would work. But, you might be cutting cutting through braid/shielding and possibly have 4 conductors twisted around. I wouldn't trust the cable after that either. Better to make your own, or just get the Expert Sleepers which don't s...

Amazing rig. Source of noise/random would be useful for texture both in modulation lightly for that type of music and as audio for mild grit

Such great enthusiasm & ideas in this thread. Is MI Plaits for me, bought it thinking it was a 2nd Braids for my system & then it turned out to be a wonderful drum/percussion module

Re: 4ms Pods
Has anyone fit a Doepfer SEM filter into a PodX? It seems like the depth is exactly the same (55mm) which is cutting it pretty close. I've got a Doepfer a-111-6 mini synth in a podx & it is supposed to be 50mm, the extra 5mm is there underneath it but you are pretty much on the floor of the box & w...

Re: ADSR(+) with Per-Segment CV and Shape Control?
[/quote] I encourage you to watch my video , reconsider, and maybe even take a flyer on the Quadigy. I have the same general attitude about overloaded digital module interfaces as you do, yet I’ve found the situation on Quadigy to be tolerable. I’ve puzzled over why, and I still don’t have a good an...

As mentioned you need to watch overall power but I use 4ms ribbon cables with more headers without issue, though it can make things a tight fit sometimes

That the attenuverters on Plaits do more than that. If you have a trig coming into trig CV turning them applies the LPG envelope to Timbre or Morph opening new tone controls. Also the FM attenuverter is a glide control. Had not known either thing & it is a delight to now know.

Re: FX : Eurorack vs. ITB
Have struggled with this question, like you OP am aside from the occasional dawless live gig always working with the computer as part of the setup. Partly its a cost & space thing but decided nothing came close to vst/daw fx and there are just too many of them in every channel strip. My integration ...

Re: What are your patching and unpatching strategies for your modular synth?
No system, pile of cables on the table next to synth. Things tend to remain patched for recording & sequencing unless I need to use that module or have run out of cables or feel the need to go scorched earth completely unpatched. In which case all the cables just go at random into the pile again.

Re: MI Peaks vs Doepfer A-140-2 vs Dreadbox Ataxia
The Attaxia looks great doesn't it? I don't have any Dreadbox, but love what they do & am tempting by the semi mods they have. I have a Doepfer a116 synth voice that also has that CV Time input which believe will control envelope length. You've motivated me to check that... I also have a Peaks which...

Re: Today my small discovery was...
Small patching discovery of how you can get a lot of melodic variation with just two knobs: Mix two CV sequences (for example in channels 2 and 3 of Maths), and send the result via a quantizer to pitch in of an oscillator. One sequence is mildly varying, while the other has more voltage outliers. T...

Re: Chord oscillator for pad purposes
Perhaps like the OP I've felt the need for a supporting pad moving through changes rather than straight chord progressions in the regular sense & like others the straight root note locked chords aren't flexible enough (though plaits & braids are fantastic otherwise of course). My solution for the pa...

Re: "paradigm shift" modules from your experience
I’ve got another one that’s so modest it almost sounds silly: mute switches Once you have some good mute switches (DivKid Mutes, Joranalogue Switch4, etc) in your rack and you start using them on CV instead of audio—particularly trigger and gate streams—your relationship to patching changes drastic...

Re: Logic Pro vs Ableton for eurorack
You unavoidably get very stockholm syndrome with your DAW & I've been with Ableton for 10 years coming from Pro Tools. Many benefits outlined above (M4L!). One thing though. Audio editing compared to PT or Logic, is beyond terrible if that is important to you, just not designed for it. When I need t...

Re: How do you use your Eurorack?
I have 166hp, had a hard cap in a 126hp case but then also filled a 40hp one to recreate a particular monosynth I'd loved & lost. I use it in a small studio with ableton also filling in some modulation CV roles on top of recording & fx. I play live with some version of it a couple of times a year an...

Re: anyone go from modular back in the box?
I haven't left modular (though kept it strictly to a 126hp 3U box for cost reasons) but I have returned to Ableton (and guitar) front and centre. Not that I ever stopped (for sequencing, mixing, effects) but have found that modular completely rewired my approach to composition (with guitar as well) ...

Re: Is the cost of a module worth it?
I feel that OP price dilemma is about the use of a module in context. I do think about price a lot with euro & try & stay within budget. A decision or comparison like that is for me about what would a Dixie or an HO give to my system? Something complementary to other pieces, a completely new flavour...

Re: COMPLEX OSC USING PLAITS
The point is I'm using STO and Plaits. Plaits as a carrier in wavefolder mode. The schematics are the same as in a complex osc. The doubt is whether the sound I can achieve would be equivalent to the one from a complex osc. Plaits in wavefolder mode is wavefolding its own sound, and then you're FMi...
