Came across this guy by chance a couple of years ago. I generally don't like droning, but his works are excellent.

Re: Best course of action to remove a power connector?

It looks like the reason for soldering the power connector this way is because the back of the +12V pin could touch the underneath of the thonkicon socket and produce a short between +12 and ground when no jack is plugged in. An alternate strategy to prevent this would be to put a bit of insulating...

Re: Best course of action to remove a power connector?

I would try to remove the plastic frame first (either cutting it up with a sharp knife, or getting underneath it and sliding it off the pins), and then desolder the pins one at a time. That is indeed sound advice! Much easier to desolder them one at a time, obviously. Great, not sure why I didn't t...

Best course of action to remove a power connector?

I'm building the Patching Panda Punch 3, but instead of reading the build guide carefully, I assumed that the power connector were to be soldered as power connectors usually are soldered, and therefore messed up. As you can see from the pictures below, the legs of the power connetor aren't supposed ...

Yes! Would just like to re-iterate that. Plinky looks wonderful, and things take the time they take. :)

I sit. Can't imagine having to stand while wiggling. I walk around and stand a lot at work, so don't really feel like doing it when I'm relaxing. :)

@Daisuk, no it does not. I asked recently. Did not sound like the maker was eager to add it. It's also very important for me to make quick experiments, so I'd have to go the SSSR Matrix route.
Ok, cheers. Not for me then. :)

I started DIY'ing because it got me access to more weird stuff, and also made a lot of stuff cheaper. In the process, I learned that soldering was quite a meditative thing to do. :)

Will the trigger expander add 16 channels/lanes to the sequencer?

Edit - found a video explaining, guess I'll check it out later. :)

Favorite experimental software effects?

Been wanting to ask you guys what your favorite VST/software effects are. I have come across a few over the years. My favorites are the ones listed below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZaDn5wne8Y&t=471s&ab_channel=iZotope%2CInc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jZ3gAUbheE&ab_channel=KrotosAudio h...

Re: Do you use only Eurorack or a mix?

No one else thinks it's very time consuming to "get gud" with... everything? ...or are you happy to know stuff more vaguely? I think it's already a bit of a challenge with Eurorack, getting to know each module. I've at least come to a point now where i feel i'm not gonna change out 40-50% of the mo...

Re: Do you use only Eurorack or a mix?

I have a Blofeld and a Deepmind that I control from the eurorack (with a Vector sequencer) going into the eurorack, so they feel like an extension of the eurorack in a way. I also use various plugins in Ableton Live from time to time, but it's mostly just eurorack. I always record into Live though.

Re: HOW are YOU integrating equipment into your workflow???

Whenever I compose with a DAW, I revert to my (pre SOB) undergraduate training, and it comes out sounding like concert band. I'm not 100% sure what "comes out sounding like concert band" means (two peoples divided by a common language and all that) but in my head, it's something like one of those w...

Re: Vertical or horizontal? The ergonomics of modular:

If I have to bend my head over it to get a good view, I find it rather tiring after a while. yeah, this is why tilted is preferred, best of both worlds. better ergonomics for both the hands + vision.. though for vision alone i do agree that vertical is just as good. i would not want more than one r...

Re: Vertical or horizontal? The ergonomics of modular:

I have to say that I much prefer interacting with modules that are vertically mounted rather than horizontal! If I have to bend my head over it to get a good view, I find it rather tiring after a while. While working with a more vertical rig, I can just sit straight and look straight at it while usi...

Re: Modules similar to the Doepfer A-152 but with more gate outputs?

I've just made something like that, but it is not eurorack format. Out of interest how many outputs would you want? I am considering a euro version, and well, also it would be interesting to know! Damn, nice! That would be ace! Hmmm, let's say twice as many? So 16? That would suffice, I reckon. :) ...

Modules similar to the Doepfer A-152 but with more gate outputs?

I'm basically looking for a "voltage adressed switch" - similar to the Doepfer A-152, but preferably with even more outputs than the Doepfer (the "dig" outputs on the Doepfer, basically outputting gate high/trig) - and I don't need the track and hold functionality. I just want to be able to scan thr...

I just got the vinyl reissue of Multila. It sounds fantastic and it remembered me of why I fell in love with his music.
One of my all time favorite albums, I think. Just monumental. I think I find it more inspiring every time I put it on.
