Free software version 24 voice, multitimbral, Kodamo is apparently based on this.

Doesn't seem so to me. In any case Kodamo Essence is more advanced.

Re: How was this polysynth sound made?

Here is another SY99 FM-sound. Rather playable and doesn't sound like the famous FM-piano. Could use some amp simulation and such.

The new Kodamo Essence FM-synth could do this sound better.

Re: How was this polysynth sound made?

*virtually raises a glass* It's fun/interesting trying to model different organ tones on FM; there's a ton of Hammond patches out there, but most of them stick to a simplistic approach where the tonewheel outputs are treated as if they were pure sine waves, and don't really attempt to capture the s...

Re: How was this polysynth sound made?

A virtual beer goes to commodorejohn! Indeed, it is FM which I was hoping to hide. Apart from reverb the sound is pure FM from Yamaha SY99. Could be SY77 as well. - Three organ stop wannabees. 8' stopped, 4' flute and 2' principal as might be found in a small positive organ. - Dual eight voice patch...

How was this polysynth sound made?

One of my better efforts. No samples were harmed. Can you guess how it was made? I hope not, because as usually it was a lot of work to make it sound not synth-like. Sadly I don't even remember what I originally intended to create with polysynths long time ago. Nowadays it is mostly imitative sounds...

TG77 pipe organ preset

Could someone send me the "Pipes" preset from Yamaha TG77? My SY77 and SY99 don't have it.

What do you mean by "tracking generator"? Haven't heard of that. Oberheim Matrix synths have so called Tracking generators: "The tracking generator provides a mapping from a control source (e.g. key range on the keyboard, or volume pedal, or mod wheel) to a modified output, based on the user-define...

The inverter inverts only when control voltage is applied. Could be more convenient the other way round. Perhaps with a jumper. Is that correct? Watch right around 6:00 when he moves the saw wave signal from the curver section to the inverter section. The 'up' saw becomes a 'down' saw as soon as it...

I have the Grove Audio version which I can recommend. Listen to the examples by spinach pizza.

I agree with josaka, that the original Polymoog resonator sounds different in the demo. But certainly Mr. Elhardt also knows how to use it.

Indeed, there is no difference in pitch when the outputs are routed to Hordijk Mini Matrix which is buffered. I previously tried many destinations but not the Matrix.

I have a quick question somewhat on topic. (I sold my DUSG, but came to my senses and just bought a new one.) If my Synthcube MU format DUSG is set to self cycle, frequency depends on which output(s) are tapped. 1. Bipolar output only: Let's say this gives reference frequency. 2. Unipolar output onl...

Precisely - I happen to have one of these and would like a second:
How is the Analog Craftsman joystick "mask"? Is it round or four-corner?

Is the joystick sprung?

How about a 3U dual USG? No need to cut features and takes less room than 2 X 2U. EDIT: I see you are already considering that.

Now when I think about it, no. I somehow assumed that 30dB/oct filtering and vactrols don't go together.

I would write Phil at Mega Ohm Audio and ask politely if there is a way he would be interested in making a run of these modules again. His design is excellent. Maybe a few orders from fellow Wiggler's would kick off the project? I would need a new shallower design. He has said one reason for discon...

MU low pass gates

I need help choosing a low pass gate. If it was available for MU, I would get Rabid Elephant Natural Gate (Eurorack). Since it has no vactrols, it doesn't bleed. Lack of resonance is ok for me. MU LPGs I am aware of: - Cynthia Quad Low Pass Gate (Thomas White?): Discontinued. Needs hot CV to open fu...

Maybe calculating power is not so much the bottleneck. One needs to understand what is being modeled. Apparently Pianoteq did their homework.

There's absolutely feedback with a piano, from the springing of the keys to the wall of sound you can build up inside it and feel in your limbs. That is true. I should have written "feedback loop". For example, a pressure wave traveling back and forth between a brass instrument and players lips, mo...
