Switching presets is super fast. Just a couple clicks and a second to load. I switched presets in a set, no problem.

I was able to flash a new build with this hex file the other day, using the stm32 cube programmer on a mac. I did not have to bridge the pins.

Re: The MARF book

The 250e is basically a marf with one afg, but two rows of voltage sliders. So you can easily do all of the single afg patches on it, plus a whole bunch of stuff the og can not do. The idea of the loop counters on the 250e comes from the function tables in the 300 computer, and most subsequent Buchl...

Re: Original MARF question

I haven't worked on one or seen the original schematics (would like to!) but I have some guesses as to how the original 248 works. That is informed by general knowledge of the time, as well as reverse engineering and rewriting firmware for the new one. The "computer" part of the OG is really simple....

Re: Samodular Buchla kits

While the 259 is an amazing first module to have, it's a terrible choice of a first module to build. If you are kind of new to this, get the 281/292 combo built and working correctly first before you even dream of trying to build a 259. If you are *really* new to this, then build something even simp...

Yes, an exponential filter/ewma is a good approach. Both more flexible and more efficient than averaging.

Re: MARF 248r source code available

It's ironic that this module has captured an essential quality of the original, which is that it is a little bit of an overcomplicated mess. If you are dismayed with the noise issue, perhaps try using it in a different application. I almost always use mine as a source of amplitude, timbre or modulat...

Just chiming in to verify that everything you wrote is exactly right.

When I get a v2 built up, I'm going to go to war against the noise because it drives me crazy. There are many software tricks we can try to improve it, but the hardware design is less than optimal.

Re: Synths, Loopers Line Mixers and Performance

I used a digitech jamman pedal in my performances for years, and I found it was much simpler and easier to not use a mixer. But If you have many different sound sources and you only want to loop some of them, it might be worth it. My biggest problem with all of the guitar-centric looper pedals is th...

The MARF book

Hallo frenz! In addition to helping with the MARF debugging happening on this forum lately, I have written a small book of patches for Buchla systems that include a 248. It is sort of an extension of the official, original manual that details more sample programming ideas and explains how they can b...

Re: ANALOGUE WAVEFORM GENERATOR MODEL 25S

Got a question about this module. It appears that the internal cv connection between the mod osc and the primary is ac coupled. Is that a deliberate design decision, optimizing for audio rate fm? A bug? You can still patch the cv out banana to get slow fm. This was surprising to me as no other Buchl...

We don’t really have any show stopper bugs for v1, so the focus is on v2. But if you think there’s something that can be improved, let us know about it. We have a v1 branch as well and the power to fix...

Re: 200e BUG REPORTING/TESTING v30 &higher only

When using the 226h to input notes to the internal midi bus, there is an undesirable behavior. All voltages scale correctly to notes save 0.0 volts. If 0 volts is present at the CV in and a pulse is sent, it puts a very high value on the internal midi bus causing the 261 to jump to a very high frequ...

Adding caps to low pass the noise out of the DAC outputs is probably a decent kludge for all the modules out there, but will add some slew, right?

Re: High-end audio in-out module?

It’s loaded terminology of course, but this context might clarify a few things. “Professional” equipment is largely the way it is to solve the problems that people have moving voltages effectively around a large studio or venue. This is a different problem than recording a euro rack on a small table...
