Also, 5u arrays are by their very nature "big iron" systems. Big time! The Harleys of the synth world ... don't laugh, Harley has been around for almost 100 years! Double Plus Good on everything you said there Rex Coil 7> I put a huge photo essay on the STG forum here on Muffs. Suit had just comple...

Ron, you may have missed the FSFX 5U builds of Mutable Rings, Clouds, and Briads. They are available at noisebug.net. I saw that those were being offered, but I've got them in my Euro Kit, and I got a bunch of those 3/16" to 1/4" adapter thingies from .com, so I interface Euro with the dotcom stuff...

How about the West Coast Random Source module? (snip) Or maybe the Analog Craftsman Random Looping Sequencer? I actually commissioned Roman to make me the very first Random Source Generator (WCRS). It was in 5U format and he did it for me in 2012. The Analog Craftsman stuff is not something I've se...

My intent here to be sure, is not to start a war between 5U or "larger format" modulars and Eurorack. All formats are deserving of a place in our overly beefy rigs. MOTM, .com, 5U, Euro, Frac, Serge, Buchla, and 6U. I just want to bring world peace and feed hungry people everywhere. If you look at t...

I hope that I didn't choose a dying format when I made my choice a year and a few months ago. From my experience, if you invested in 5U, you'll really enjoy it and love it. No mistake there. I have some Euro stuff that I've invested in over the last 3 years. But my go to synth is always my 5U. I st...

Good point there @synthetic. and I do notice a number of unbelievably large Euro rigs totally for sale. But… I would build that 5U kit soon. I am actually concerned as a buyer and a heavy user of 5U / MU format To be fair… 5U isn't dead here https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/1325_img_3377_1...

@josaka… yes search is working just fine. Just for some perspective. I haven't been on the forum in about a year, and I definitely see a general lack of 5U/MOTM activity. It's startling really. 5U has been a vibrant topic for a long time. Topic generation was much more prolific than it is now. Less ...

Is 5U A Dying Format?

Just saying… Looking on the 5U Format pages, it took me only 4 pages to go back through 1 year of topic history. On Euro topics, I've gone through 40 pages of topics, and still haven't hit January 2017. Also, I went into the BST pages and notice, well, hardly any 5U MOTM stuff For Sale. What's up wi...

I've been wanting to buy from Grove for some tome, but all I've ever seen from them is nice pictures. Still waiting to hear if these "ideas" are ever produced and someone actually has one.

The Mutable Instruments Ring module is superlative in creating all types of wood sounds. Many great Marimba tones to be had. The MOTM Synthesis Technology 440 filter is also very good too with the right waveform in front of it.

Which Shaker are you synthesizing? A Mopar Road Runner, Charger, or Challenger. Or is it Shelby Mustang, or Chevy Camero? And about how many horsepower? They all have different sounds.

Phonic makes some nice ones. Stereo, color display, built in B&K adjustable mic for room analysis. XLR line in and out. Sound generators for noise, and pitched tones. It's got lots of tricks, memory, room reverb analysis, and much more. I've got an older mono greyscale screen. Cost 300.00 I've built...

Synthesis Technology MOTM 650 does a nice job of doing 4 voice poly. You can set the voices in any voice config you want. 1/1/1/1 is a four voice setup. Playable with midi. I've not experienced hang ups or foul ups. Numerology is quite good at it too, if you have some solid simple midi interfaces li...

3 years later, still no one making a stereo mixer with VC Panning. Well Modcan does, kind of. I have 12 complete voices, I need at least 2 modules like this. The FX aux loop is very cool, because I use a bunch of guitar pedals on the outputs of my mixers. Having a function to mix these in, would be ...

I had one that I fried by offsetting the power connector. If it's a power problem, those are fairly close to the power in's, and any one who Phil or someone suitably qualified can do it. Bruce fixed mine and said it fried a couple of caps. Fortunately, I had not fried those very very special 8000 cy...
