Data jamming is great. I liked to pull the microprocessors from old printers, stick them into a breadboard, supply power and ground, feed 40106 oscillators to the clock and i/o lines.

Thanks wechard. That's kind of what I envisioned. I'll have to consider if I'm up for all that code/math  You need to alter exactly one number to define the tuning slot. The process is dumb and cumbersome, especially given the company it's coming from, but once you've done it once, and ma...

Portion Control is where a bunch of the really early Skinny Puppy sounds got borrowed from. Grauzone had at least one good song. There was a little bit of a scene in the bay area with Tuxedomoon and Survival Research.

The Alexander Reed book Assimilate is really a must read.

Yea the demo has some pretty bland sounds considering the complexity of this thing. I'm looking forward to seeing what else it can do when I get it tomorrow. If it's not too much trouble, an exploration of how wavetabley the wavetable system is would be much appreciated. It has the Waldor...

I have been looking forward to being able to use one synth to make music.

As long as the battery in there isn't rechargeable, replacing it with a 3032 and a clip holder will be fine.

Post some photos of the internals. Can't be -that- much different from an MSR2 and those have a pretty obvious 3032. Maybe pull the board and check the underside of it.

Bought a halfway decent 27'' monitor to give myself some more screen realestate for reaper. Realized as I shuffled monitors around that my video card has, not 2 hdmi ports as I though it did, but one hdmi port and one displayport port. So, because of inputs and outputs, I have my new monitor set up ...

From what I can remember, it ducks the input -really- hard.

Feeding an unsynced arpeggiated line into it resulted in it being chopped up sufficiently to sync.

As with everything else on the emx-1, if the hit you're playing isn't on an accented beat, it's going to be quiet.

Blacet always had cool and unusual features and I really hope it is carried on. New versions/formats/pcbs would be great and more people will see how good these are (and have always been!). A lot of the coolness is because of the format. Knob and input spacing, just the ergonomics and routing visua...
