Isolating/decoupling nearfield monitors from any hard surface that they may be sitting on certainly is effective, basic physics and even basic common sense. To argue that speaker cabinets are so well designed that they transfer little/no energy to objects that they are in contact with is preposterou...

Re: Replacing Ableton with Synthstrom Deluge or Octatrack MK
2. I've heard that FXs quality on Octatrack MK1 are not that great. Has it been fixed on Octa MK2? How does it compare with Deluge? Well the Deluge FX are nowhere near as good as the Octatrack's, not even in the same ballpark, the kindest thing I could say about them is that they are ok but very ba...

It's been such a loooong time since I posted in this thread, or logged into Muff's for that matter. (I'm soon having my 10th anniversary goo under my name, so that's cool.) Anyway, I've finally started to get into what I wanted to do with the Monotribe from the start, firmware hacking. So, this is ...

I’m really not that bothered at all, it is just a discussion and yes I suppose my comments coukd be taken as rude/dickish but I get kind of tired reading the same response like “well xyz company made a clone of this product and no one complained” or saying that someone who does not have any interest...

I fail to see how not liking Behringer for amongst other things stealing CEM chip designs is virtue signalling, you’d have to be a very special kind of stupid to think that the only issue people have with Behringer is (shamelessly) copying other manufacturers gear. And if you think vintage prices wo...

jeez, does this rooftop protester not give it a rest! Uli - is that you? if you go by an early demo, you are bigger idiot than i thought. the elektron stuff isn't up to scratch either going by all the reports of buggy OS's, even when elektron release a new OS they can't get that right either and it...

Gear shaming? Nah, I love cheap gear, always have, just not so keen on companies who steal other peoples ip, treat employees like shit, threaten lawsuits against people who call them out, copy the look of competitors products down to using the same colours and typeface, and who cynically and boringl...

As for Boringher giving people what Roland won’t, they aren’t - based on the demos so far these do not sound right and they look really tacky, but yeah they have separate outs woohoo. TR-8s or Rytm or Boutiques are a much better bet, and you won’t be embarrased when people see them in your setup

A 909 for everyone, even people who can’t tell the difference, wow! https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/1386_390028f6052b4f8fa69b7ab2eb56e9fc_1.jpg I can’t believe its not Roland! Anyone else compare the two first hand? Curious what thoughts are. I still think the Classic pedal is the best sounding of the 3 models, with the DC2 a close second and the original V1 in third place. Do you still hold this opinion? Just curious as you have 3 ammo cans now and looking for another, ...

My wife loves the 303 sound too, more classic acid 80-120bpm stuff than ‘avin it’ 140-170bpm stuff mind which she cannot stand, she also loves the 808, and can easily recognise the sounds despite not ever making electronic music herself. It does seem that certain instruments generate a bit of dislik...

I remember people saying exactly the same thing about the 303 in the early/mid 90's too, yet still lots of great tracks (and lots of shit ones too) have been made using a 303 or clone in the meantime. Personally I don't tire of the sound, but if it does little for you now I guess it is pretty easy t...

I think it is fair to say that the Boutique re-issues get fairly close in sound (with varying levels of success) to the original machines, but importantly they get very close in the user experience, they are very fun to use. As a few have already said in a mix some people won’t know if you are using...
