Re: Brexit and the future of Oakley Sound
Dear Tony, I have been buying, building and using your PCBs and modules for a long time now. I live in Norway, which is in Europe, but outside of the EU. This means that for all these years I have paid import VAT and fees. I still do it. Even though the import VAT in Norway is high; 25%. (Although I...

Re: Buchla 285 PCBs - too late?
Heard back from Shawn @ Analogue Heaven. There might be some additional PCB sets later on. All will be announced on the website.

Buchla 285 PCBs - too late?
I have a front panel for a Buchla 285 Frequency Shifter / Balanced Modulator, but no PCBs. I am probably too late for this, as all PCB sets seem to be gone. Any ideas where to find a set? I have posted in the Wanted section, but if anybody knows about some web site still selling them, please let me ...

Re: Incoming Project: Output and Multiple for 5U
This is probably my last MOTM format 5U module I will design, as any new modules will be specifically for MU or Eurorack. It was just over twenty years ago when the first Oakley MOTM format module was created - the original Superladder - so we've certainly had a good run. ... The Oakley Router is a...

General question regarding 19" rack projects
On the Oakley web site, you can see photos of several 19" rack projects with professional front panels, many of which are the prototypes built by Tony Allgood. Several of them are black front panels that seems to be mounted on a ready-bought enclosure. I know how to order front panels from Schaeffer...

Re: Octal Resonator
even with all the pots at zero, there is still a good portion of the sound coming through. This is correct. The pots are resonance controls rather than volume controls. So they control the selectivity of each filter rather than the output level. As each filter becomes more selective it increasingly...

Re: Octal Resonator
Things take time! I see that it is all the way back in 2013 that I build this, but at the time it didn't fit into the modular, so it ended up in the drawer. Since Easter is at home this year, it is time to finish all nearly-finished projects. Fitted the module to the front panel, and did the usual t...

New version of TL072?
Hi, I just got a new batch of "standard" TL072 (from Farnell). I ordered TL072CP, but what I got was TL072IP. I have tried to find out what the "IP" stands for, but have been unable to sort it out. It all falls back to explanations about surface-mount ICs, but the ones I got was definitely the stand...

ADSR resistor value question
ADSR/VCA issue 5 PCB: resistor R39.
In the schematics it is 2M2, but in the builders guide V 5.4 it is 1M5.
Which value to use?

Re: Oakley ASV: New 5U module being designed
At last I was able to finish the ASV module, well one year after I bought one. I must say that it really is a brilliant module. Full of smart details, sounding great, and documentation top notch as always. I completed the build, tests and calibration without any failure, and being such a large proje...

Re: The future for Oakley 5U modules
This marks the end of a journey for me that started just over twenty years ago when the first Oakley MOTM format module, the original Superladder, was born. Tony Thanks a lot for the update. Although I am sad to see the decision, I do understand. Thanks a lot for all the modules you have designed -...

That sounds like the pot has gone bad. Yes, spot on! It was a broken Alpha pot. A good part of the revolving was of no use. A bit annoying that, since it was a new pot, and it takes some work to get everything in the module apart again. Also, I didn't have any extra Alpha pots with the right resist...

The output of U4 does indeed change from -6.5V to +6.5V. However, it jumps from about -2V to +3V, even though I try very tiny movements with the threshold pot, so it is not possible to get 0V on the output. Replaced U4. No change. Thanks for the comment on R23. The OFF1 trimmer never gets the pin7 o...

Thanks. Some interesting discoveries: Voltages on pin 1 and pin 7 of U4 are 1,6 volts (positive and negative of course). With the threshold pot in the middle there are 0 volts coming out of the pot, and there is no CV coming from the threshold CV input, so the pot and CV input is OK. It seems to me ...

Discontinuity calibration issue
Finished building some more modules, and the Discontinuity is up next. The first two calibration trimmers worked fine, but I am unable to get OFF1 to zero volts. Also, the offset pot does not seem to work properly - very tiny change in sound (compared to the other pots). All other pots, the LED, CV ...

Wiring of the assign switch on the PolyDAC
I have the old 4-channel MIDI-CV module, the PolyDAC. It has a switch for "assign" of the 4 extra CV outs.
How is it supposed to be wired? I think it is marked J1 in the schematics.
Is it to momentary link to ground when used, or should it be disabled from ground when used?
