Re: Any dangers to turning on modular equipment left in storage?

The only danger that I can see is that all your available time will go missing. If it’s been sitting the connections should be ok. If it were me I would power it up and go!

Plan B should do it. Peter has been considered pretty evil around here.

Re: Have you ever regretted menus on everything?

I really don’t like menus or button combos. My favorite modules are 1 knob per function types. The directness is one of the things I like most about my synth. If I have to use combos or menus I find I don’t use those features. Just not something I enjoy. I’ve bought a couple and sold almost all of t...

These are the inserts and paper that was supposed to be in the numbered only but I had enough material to do it to all of them.

K2 modular noise release I got to make!

I had the great opportunity to work with K2 to release some new material for him. It's done on modular and semi-modular synths. Ok, this is partially spam for this tape but also to talk up K2 and show some of the fun of working with this noise legend. This has been especially exciting for me because...

Re: Behringer Mono/Poly!

Anyone know if the mono/poly shares the same filter with the polysix? it uses the same chip but the circuits different; the polysix had a lot of distortion thats hard to dial out while the monopolys got infinite headroom. they dont sound the same Thanks. I love the sound of the polysix filter and h...

Re: Questioning common advice

I started fairly slow out of necessity. Then there were only a handful of makers. Lack of money or lack of module availability were key factors. I was definitely consistently adding just not a lot at a time. There are so many manufacturers and variety of modules now, it has to be a lot different / m...

Re: How long do you stay patched?

It depends. Sometimes when I stop for the evening I’ll pull the cables. If I have something going thats worthy of recording it will stay a few days to a week. If I’m practicing for a live performance that is pre patched, maybe a couple of weeks while I’m practicing and refining.

I really like it. It’s unfortunately really big but it’s good enough to sacrifice the HP for it. Looks great with the VU meter too!

Re: Let's see your performance case!

This is my current setup. I change modules every once in a while with my main case so it changes some. I do noise and experimental stuff live. I have a contact mic, speaker, and small rubber mallets for use with the preamp/envelope follower. Also, there’s a contact mic built into the case so the met...

Re: How to prepare for a liveshow - practical tips

Bring extra adapters and cables of various types. For example, in the US we have grounded and non grounded ( old) electrical outlets. My power strip has grounded and I’ve played places with only non grounded outlets. No adapter, no power. Also I can’t say how many times someone else playing has need...

Re: Performing: Which way to face?

I’ve done it both ways. The lid of my case is tall and I feel like it blocks the view when facing the audience. Sideways at least let’s them see something. I don’t like the idea of back facing because they probably can’t see much but your back. It depends on how I’m feeling E4FF11E2-0981-4C33-9ADA-D...

New modular noise tracks - free

Since like many of us I have more time in my hands than usual I’ve been making more music under the Noisteria Emission moniker. I just added some new noise tracks made by modular. “ Stories For The Life And Death Of A Star Parts 1-X” first track is a tension building harsh noise track and the seco...

Re: What sparked your entry into eurorack?

very simple. I could not reproduce the sounds in my head with a traditional synth. I didn't have the flexibility and control required. Since modular I've gotten rid of most of my keyboard and rack synths.

Until the last couple years, almost everything in euro was a copy of Buchla, Moog, or Serge. Could make long lists of Buchla clones.

The systems you post as more mature, logical and better looking I personally find boring, ugly and uninspiring. Just my personal opinion. I feel very similar to this. The Moog modular style does little for me both in looks and performance (generally speaking). Homogeneous systems like Buchla and Se...
