Noise Engineering Blog appreciation - anything else like this?

For at least a year now, I've been a regular reader of the amusingly titled Noise Engineering Blog , and it's been excellent. I've been able to develop a much better mental framework for thinking about patching and CV as a result of some of the content, and I get a bunch of great patching ideas from...

Quick dirty jam that sounds like how I feel right now

Feeling a bit jumpy and jittery after spending so long stuck at home. Had a quick jam on the Digitone and I have to say, it sounds just like how I feel...

Re: Re:

I worked at Nakamichi between 1981 and 1993, and the old Nakamichi BX-300 is exactly what you need: A discrete 3-head deck with a front-panel playback pitch control (±6%, or about one semitone either way). HOWEVER, that model was discontinued around 30 years ago. If you can find one it will probabl...

Re: Modern FM synth options?

I guess you already know you can send digitone midi tracks lfo to FM tracks via midi loop, thst would give you 4 extra LFO. I you want a more "powerful" yet cheap 6 operator fully featured FM synth look for a volca FM, it is not a toy. It sounds very nice, 3 note polyphony only. Sequencer is fun wi...

Re: Modern FM synth options?

I would suggest getting Native Instruments FM8 and a nice midi controller. Spend a half-hour setting up mapping template and then you'll be cruising. I thought about this a bit. I have both FM8 and Ableton Operator. I've never had great experiences with building more sophisticated MIDI maps for spe...

Re: Modern FM synth options?

ESSENCEFM : https://kodamo.org/? Look at the specs, I have preordered it  The developper is very open to suggestions and the unit will be updated. :deadbanana: take my money now! No, seriously though, this looks like exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to find. Looks like pre-orders are...

Modern FM synth options?

I'm looking for a new FM synth. I currently have a Digitone, which is great, but I really want more from it. More LFOs, more envelopes, and maybe even more effects. To give an analogy in the world of Elektron gear, I want the Digitone's larger sibling, like the Octatrack is to the Digitakt. It seems...

Re: [AVAILABLE] TTSH V4 Build Thread

Just received my complete kit from Synthcube this week :sb: Have read the whole of fuzzbass's build guide before starting. Thank you so much fuzzbass! The guide is going to make this build go so much more smoothly for me. I have some questions related to mods: 1. How hard will it be to install the G...

My only complaint is that there's no CV control for the filter spacing! I've only played around for 30 mins or so but I keep wishing I could assign a slow moving LFO to it. Couldn't you apply the LFO to one of the cutoff ins? I could be wrong but from what I gather the second filter stays where it ...

Mine came in today. I've only had a few hours with it so far but it's a really novel synth. It's basically Moog's version of a Korg Mono/Poly. The oscillators sound great (especially when you start messing with the Sync function) and the filter is very potent. It took me a little while to wrap my h...

NI stuff usually sounds great but everything else about their software in recent years tends to be a Massive PITA. Native Access should be renamed to Native Ass. Huh, weird, I find Native Access to be one of the better installation / activation management programs I use. It's always worked fine for...

Had play with this for about 20 mins or so this morning. Initial reactions: - Sounds great, no doubt about it. - UI is buggy. Changing things in dropdown menus kills the sound until I move another control. I'm sure this will be ironed out soon - The modulators look really flexible, but don't feel th...

Another feature request that I expect might not be too hard to implement (although you never know) but would save me hours of frustration: how about a confirmation screen that requires a second click of the encoder before loading a different folder when you have unsaved work in the current one?

I think my Zadar has just crapped out on me after only an hour or two of use. I was using it happily, and then at some point the screen went blank. I assumed it was the screensaver. However, then I wanted to save my settings, and I couldn't get the screen to turn back on. Eventually I decided to reb...

Does anyone know what the "Loop Accuracy: Save / Skip" option in the Maintenance menu does? When you run a looped envelope at audio rate (not that we encourage users to do so), the cycle length would usually be a non-integer number of samples of the output DAC (which runs at 48kHz). In order to mai...

Is your live set in stereo?

Hey friends. I'm in the process of planning out my first few live sets, and I keep going back and forth on how much I should take panning and stereo fx in to account. I know from my DJing days a long time ago that many club systems are mono, but I expect to be playing in at least a few situations wh...

I hope it's not inappropriate for me to post this here, but I have full DIY kits for euro versions of both the DUSG and the SSG for sale over in the "For Sale / Trade" subforum. I think they're otherwise quite hard to find at the moment, at least in the US.

as for the reverse ; we have scrubbing that's under CV control - that's is good enough, no? I haven't tried using that to reverse samples, so maybe I'm missing a trick, but I don't feel like that's the same thing. What I want to be able to do is just send a gate to trigger a switch in playback dire...

Lots of variety to be had here patching the different circuits in different orders and with different amounts. I'm very pleased with my purchase so far, and I definitely have a thing for distortion. I have at least 10 different modules / pedals / outboard units for distortion not including this one...
