Re: Vortex Generator Build Thread

Just in case anyone else runs into this issue... make sure you check the resistors in the kit before soldering. In my case R21 and R22 were the incorrect value. Replacing with 4.7K resistors fixed the issue. Working perfectly! Such a great module!

Oh wow, I must have set that and forgotten about it. Works great now thanks for the hint. RTFM.

Re: Vortex Generator Build Thread

After checking every single connection and finding no shorts, it got me thinking. I looked at R21 and R22 a little more closely. They are small resistors that came with the kit, with some of the colors rubbed off a bit. I decided to desolder them pull them out entirely and give them a test with the ...

Re: Ryk M185 Sequencer - per step repeat and gate mode

Built this a while back and always clocked it externally, tried to use this as the master click and the tempo is way slow, even when fully CW. CCW it’s practically stopped. What’d I do wrong?

Re: Vortex Generator Build Thread

I built one of these and everything seems to work fine except the shift register is odd. It seems to only spit out what I can only describe as a “square”. In all these videos I hear random notes when modulating a VCO for instance, but mine just boringly alternates between two notes, if it decides to...

I received my order from Thonk in less than a week. There seems to be no real rhyme or reason to delays at this point.

Re: Postage times for DIY with international delays

Still waiting on a Vortex Generator from Spain. In the USA, over 4 weeks now. Definitely the slowest so far but I’ve had to wait patiently on a few other things too, namely from Australia. It is what it is.

Re: Ryk M185 Sequencer - per step repeat and gate mode

78M05 wasn't in my kit, or I dropped it and it went into the void. Either way, I want to make sure I get the right replacement! Anyone know the part number?

I replaced 4125 and no longer have distorted saw or a wonky triangle. Someone had a similar issue which tipped me off. Works great now! Perfect.

Re: [Order] TTSH Shapers Mod

Well it's definitely NOT the shapers board. Switching things around, the Shapers mod seems to be working perfectly. There is something wrong with my VCO 3 board.... I'm going to replace some transistors to see what's going on.

Just finished this, trying to figure it out. Is it normal for a lot of the modes to be really quiet compared to the basic waveforms?

Thanks for the tip! Those videos are helpful, and the fix doesn't seem too crazy. Already had some success using a strand of wire to fix traces.

Bruital I have the same issue as you. I don't quite understand how you fixed this or what got swapped... Edit: It probably helps if you solder both sides of all the capacitors. Edit edit: Even though that was a good catch, DAC still won't go below 0v when I'm calibrating. Poster above said th...

My TTSH has been working perfectly up until recently. There was always a bit of clock bleed going on, but VCO3 seems to have S&H applied to it constantly, except when the fader is very slightly above zero. I wondered if it's a bad fader, so I decided I would replace that first. After removing it, V...

I thought about this also. I filed down the jacks to prevent contact with the via. I'll double check it though. I did notice that with a patch cable plugged in to that FM jack that's normalized to S&H the issue stops. I'll check the jack again just in case.
