Re: What iPad sequencers are people using with the FH-2?
FH-2 can do 14bit CCs for more resolution; cc1-32 are paired with 33-64; see the manual section on 14bit ccs If you're sending notes, you may also be able to send pitch bend, and FH-2 allows you to specify the pitch bend range in semitones for each midi/cv converter. On the ipad I've had fun with Fu...

Re: Can't get into programming the shnth
Sure heres just 8 situations; jump moves between them when you press the tar, and the lights indicates which one you're on. bar a just plays a sound in each of the patches multi patch ;demonstrate patch jumping { (jump (tar 1)) (lights 1) (left(right(horn 10 50 (bara)))) } { (jump (tar 1)) (lights 2...

Re: Can't get into programming the shnth
Something to note is that the shnth lights are backwards compared to binary -- least signficant bit (the 1s) is on the left rather than the right. If you just want to read a value you've output I find it easier to hold it upside down. And using dirac (-128 - 127) negative numbers are represented by ...

There's a video of a workshop on the Serge by Ben Carey conducted at MESS in 2019. Near the beginning David Chesworth gives a bit of historical context.

Re: How much iPad does one need?
Last year i updated my ipad 2 to whatever the basic model was then. I've been really happy with it. iPad 2 can go up to IOS 9.35. If you get a good deal, it's a good way of trying things out, but as usual, the action favours newer, more powerful ipads. Some great programs will still run on ipad 2; b...

Re: miRack for iOS - now available
Sorry, yes-- usb works for output (though it seems to be 2 channels only), but I don't think there's any way to get audio into miRack?
So at the moment you can't use it for round tripping audio through ES8 or ES9.

Re: Gestural patching (Meng Qi style) - advice please!
If you have a dc-coupled audio interface you could use it with VCV rack to see what works for you. And the VCV rack scope is useful to see what's happening with voltage levels. One thing that may be a consideration is amplification-- many VCAs don't actually amplify, they just attenuate, and you may...

Re: Horrible docs, but good instruments (Tetra MAPS sequencer)
When i get a new piece of gear (or an IOS app), I write up my own document to remind me how to do the stuff I want to do. If I want to do more stuff, I add to it. Then when I come back and find I haven't documented what I need (cause it was oh so obvious at the time), I work it out and add that to m...

Re: handheld music making options (MIDI synced!)
If you're tempted by organelle; they've released their PD software so you can try it out on a desktop. It will run on a raspberry pi too. Lots of nice, focused PD instruments and they add new ones all the time; and of course you can make your own.

Sensel Morph; has different templates but you can design your own interface and send midi. Nice touch sensitivity. Cool buchla thunder style template if you want.

Re: Seriously considering a Shnth and would like advice
I completely agree with what's been expressed-- it's an amazing device, but programming it to do interesting things isn't easy. My favourite patches are still all other peoples'. I spent a lot of time with it for a few months, but haven't used it much recently-- but I know I will again. What I like ...

AFAIK, mirack doesn't work with usb audio yet, so it won't work with any usb audio interfaces.

... I also have Lemur. What else is out there? The rozeta plugins include a 3 channel LFO, and they can modulate each other, and of course as an AU effect you can have many of them. And the rozetta note/trigger sequencers all have random generation, so you can use them for cv. I've started to use M...

USB noise with FH-2 and novation launchcontrol XL?
TL;DR - usb noise when fh-2 connected to hub (as device) along with lcxl Here's my setup (ipad is the effects loop, computer not used much): modular with FH-2, audio out to iConnectivityAudio4+ ICA4+ connected to ipad, computer and hosting a powered usb hub ICA4+ audio out to mixer. With respect to MPE and Envelopes, I'm trying to setup a Sensel Morph, and wanted to try an envelope, with sustain controlled by Y (cc74). The envelope setting wants a channel and CC; if this is envelope per voice, with mpe each voice is on a separate channel, so the envelope only works for 1 voice....

I've had the book for about a year, and finally got around to reading it over the last few days, trying stuff out with the modular as I read.
I thought it was excellent; very clear. Made me try out a bunch of stuff I'd never thought to try out, and clarified a number of things along the way.
Thanks.

FH-2 clocking with FHX-1 expander (SOLVED)
My FHX-1 is currently set to +/- 5V on all outputs (factory settings). Using the web configuration tool to make the FHX-1 outputs FH-2 clocks seems only to go between -5 and 0V. I tried changing the voltage range settings in the tool, but it didn't make any difference (I believe that's for devices t...

I used MMI usb power attached with velcro on an unpowered pod60. Had to enlarge the power hole to let a USB-B connector in, but it works well. Dual DIY benjolin, horstronic joystick and malekko wiard x-mix. Powered with a usb battery from ebay. https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/14189_201909...

Either with tascam dr-05 from mixer, or with ipad aum via audio interface. I'm often using aum for effects, and it allows me to have multi-track recordings if I want. The audio interface goes out to the mixer, so the dr-05 is useful when I just want to remember a final result, not the bits that made...
